MSVRP

We are impressed with the Montana product and are interested in obtaining a new or used 2955RL or 2980RL. Where can we obtain the MSVRP for a new one or the MSRVP for a used one?

Hello Betty03258,

My dealer is showing a Base MSRP of $36,595 for the 2955RL and $39,205 for the 2980RL, plus $2,595 for the Value Package and $3,895 for the Moving to Montana Package (both are mandatory options). Other options are extra. I don't know whether this is standard with all dealers or not. There is a lot of variance in MSRP's in the RV industry. Hope this helps.

Best Regards, Ted

Typically used Montana's hold their resale value well.

Look at NADA for blue book numbers. http://www.nadaguides.com/RVHome.asp...Pr=0&wPg=2005&

New Montana's typically sell for 25% off the MSRP at most dealerships. BUT! there are lots of tricks to get the best deal. Several MOC members are currently discussing purchase and discounts etc. Do a search on MOC for "buying" or something similar.

Others will follow up with more specifics very shortly.

Good Luck

Sriegle (Steve) and Richfaa (Rich) went through this process with great results by faxing out quote requests with their specific options they wanted to multiple dealerships. I will be following their example. Hopefully they will be along shortly.

Betty03258 MSVRP's are changing all the time.Go to a dealer, find the model with the options you want then look at the sticker(MSVRP) Then take 25% off that sticker price and use that as your start bickering point

We are buying a 3670RL. We listed all the options we wanted then E mail that information to 10 (now 12) montana dealers across the country. We have thus far received 5 bids back as 25% was our cut point three of those bids range fron 25% to 31% off sticker. The MSVRP was 53,335.00. Take your time..do your homework and you will get the deal you want.

Hello Betty,
We shopped online and got quotes from the entire east coast, got the lowest price(shipping included) and brought it to our local dealer and they matched it. I felt satisfied.

Close. I didn't fax requests, I just searched online for dealers and emailed them directly with exactly what we wanted. Some dealers list reta'l price online. It's surprising what you can find online just by google searching for "montana 2955rl" or whatever model. Prices seem to vary widely. Don't forget you can often get 20% to 30% off that retail price with a little negotiating.

I sold RVs about 10 yrs ago and at that time the dealer markup was 40%, e.g., if the MSRP was $50,000, then the dealer paid $30,000. Sure the numbers haven't changed. Usually transportation and dealer prep was added on to the MSRP(these charges are negotiable, too, especially dealer prep and extended warranties). With some makes, the mfgrs. let the dealers make up the MSRPs. Make the lowest offer possible, all the dealer can do is say no, but they might counter at more than 25% off MSRP. I would never offer less than 35% off MSRP in the beginning. Check the VIN tag on the rig and see how many months the rig has been on the dealers lot. If it has been several months, make even a lower offer. The dealer may be getting an incentive from the mfgrs. to get rid of it--no one like old stock on the lot. Don't be too anxious. I got a deal on our truck by FAXing several dealers with the best offer I had had to date. Saved another $1,000.

Regarding trade-ins. The dealer is going to give you wholesale less 10% or $2,000, whichever is less, there maybe some add ons for special equipment. This is what the bank will loan on it to him for flooring or what he can sell it for wholesale. The rest of the numbers are meaningless.

So, if you saw a rig you wanted new and the MSRP was $50,000 and your trade wholesaled at $10,000. Then you could figure that the dealer is at $32,000 for his cost and will give you $8,000 for your rig. Anything you give him above your trade and $24,000 will be his profit.

Mobilrvn post is very good.Helen and I also sold RV's about 10 years ago. The numbers have not changed much. Like sreigle we have E mailed bids to selected dealers around the country with several back with more than 25% off. remember that Rv starts costing the dealer $ as soon as it is dropped on his lot,Taxes, Ins, etc. That is why you can get a better deal by a factory order. Using the 40% figure..The 3670 we will order has a today MSVRP of 53330.00..at 40% the dealer will have 31,998.00 in the unit. His low bid to me is 37,200.00.It will be factory ordered, will spend maybe 1 or 2 days on his lot.dealer profit is 5202 minus some incidentals.I think those are fairly close numbers and there is still room for negotiation.

Hello Out There,

As I had mentioned in a posting elsewhere, I recently was quoted $44,000 even for a 3400RL with a MSRP of $57876 as calculated by me from what I believe to be an accurate pricing sheet. However, on this price sheet, there is a line item called "Freight/Prep". Is this a valid and customary item, and if so, how much should be added to the MSRP for this item??

Freight is the cost of getting the Rv from Goshen to your dealer,Prep is dealer prep..they are customary items. They really have nothing to do with the MSVRP except thet the dealer will pass the cost on to you..both of these items are negotiable. Note that FEMA is paying 1.06 to 1.12 per mile to deliver Rv's. Both of those cost are sort of like State tax..they are not part of the MSVRP but a cost to the buyer???

Rich,

Just today I was quoted $44,000 plus tax, title and license for a 3400RL which lists for $57,876. Since nothing was mentioned about Freight or Prep, I do not know if there is something in the $44,000 to cover this. If not, this would amount to a 24% discount. Within this thread, discounts of up to 30% and more have been mentioned. For example, is it possible the discount is really 27%, or $42,250 plus $1,750 Freight and prep? I haven't a clue.

Rickfox, three years ago last July the shipping cost on our invoice was $700. That was to Kansas City. I am not sure if the cost is the same everywhere. It likely is higher now, given the higher fuel prices.

We did it! We just got home from ordering a new 2006 Montana 2955RL. (Yes, we made it home ahead of the snow-storm!) It has the Mor-Ryde suspension, new front cap that is designed for a short-bed truck, and Hitchvision. (new additions after the original 2006 brochure was published.) It should arrive around the end of April. Thanks to everyone who provided us with guidance.

Let's be careful out there. I just bought a 2955RL from Beaudry, with a MSRP of $52,320. In real numbers, I wound up paying a little over $37,000.I had a salesman at Qsite quote me (with a straight face) $84,500 for the same rig. If you don't know what the price of the rig is by doing your homework, you could really get burned. I generally figure around 30% off of the MSRP (the real one) is OK.

Good luck!

The 3400Rl that we purchased 2/25/06 was 31.2 % off MSVRP.We paid very little over 40K. As Scattershot said..Do your homework or you WILL pay the price.

We look forward to feed-back as to how you all thought we did in our negotiations for the new 2006 Montana 2955RL that includes Mor-Ryde suspension, Hitchvision, and re-designed front cap. We paid $33,900, plus $95 administration fee and $27 for NH state title.
The unit will have the following options: aluminum wheels, slide-out awnings, hide-a-bed sofa, 2 fantastic fans, ceiling fan, washer/dryer prep, artic insulation package, Hydraulic selector switch and central vacuum. In addition, for that price, the dealer is paying for and installing the truck brake control and installing the 16K SuperGlide hitch and Super Rail mounting kit that we purchased on-line for $1799 with free freight included.
Did we get it for a decent price?
