Both tank open or just one at a time, I think is a personal preference type of thing. Both open is fine as long as you remember to check the reg now and them, but if you suffer from an extreme case of CRS, I would rather have to go out and turn on the full tank rather than realize that I forgot to check and now had two empty tanks. As I said, personal preference. Which ever way works best for you.
