Hitches

Anyone using a Curt 16K or 20K hitch? If so, good, bad or So So?

I have the Curt Q20 hitch...sweet. The Q20 has less free play so there is very little "chucking". It does take a little getting use to on coupling, you have to back into it then let the truck roll forward slightly to set the lock.

I also have the Q20 ... I really like the design and hitching features integrated into the locking handle ... makes it near impossible to improperly hitch up. I've found if you spray the 2 clam shell latches with WD40 or equivilent about once a month they snap right around the kingpin. Like I've posted before ... I used to be a Reese kinda guy, but after wearing out 2 heads on the 15K Pro Series hitch due to the fact that the side to side pivot pins are steel on steel and cannot be adequately lubed, I tried a Curt. I am very pleased.

I have the Curt Q20 also. The first one I had problems with the jaws not locking onto the pin. I did everything under the sun and thought I was doing something wrong. While on the road after a week or so if continuous problems hitching up I called Curt and they asked me to do this and that and they could not figure out on the phone what was wrong. I told them I can't be having problems like this on the road and asked if there was somewhere I might be able to change out the head. Asked where I was as I was in Sioux Falls, SD and they told me where to go right there in Sioux Falls and said that they would change it out for me. After the exchange first time it hooked up, and we tried it a few times and first time every time. Something that wasn't obvious was happening with the old head. No problems since, no charge by them at all because it was still under warranty.

Thats what I call service by the vendor. They did everything they could to remedy my situation and I will do more business with them in the future.

I bought a new Q5 20000# last year and once I get it hooked, it's wonderful. Just have to get perfectly straight and centered when hooking up or it will not lock.
