More Leaking Holding Tanks

Does anyone have some Tip/Tricks to repair leaking grey water tanks?

We purchased a Model 328 Moutaineer new in the spring of 2005. In the winter of 2006 in Texas, we noticed that the shower grey water tank began to leak and it was repaired under warranty by Happy Camper RV of Prince Albert, SK when we got home. This winter in Arizona, the kitchen grey water tank began leaking and shortly thereafter the shower tank leaks again too. I noticed that on the forum, there were some comments in about 2006 about leaking tanks, but no suggested materials to use for repairs. In that era, (2004 -2006)Keystone did get a shipment of poor quality grey water holding tanks!

Apparently you can use ABS solvent cleaner to fuse the cracks on the fender skirts. Would this be a possible solution?
Thanks!!

clifri,
We've always used the radiator repair kit to fix our tanks. As long as you clean the area really well and follow the directions exactly as shown they work well. We've fixed both our gray and galley tanks using the radiator repair kits.

There are some good discussions on the Forum regarding this issue. You might try a search.

Good luck.

I have patched my gray tank. The MAIN thing to do is be sure the tank is DRY, DRY , and then DRY some more. After you drain the tank I would park the trailer at a good angle so the remaining liquid runs to one end of the tank.

Aren't our tanks made of ABS not polyethylene? If so will the 'A-Seal' work? Just asking since I'm not 100% certain.

Nice info on the Eternabond stuff. Thanks.

The tanks are ABS according to the tank manufacturer.

I pulled the bottom panels off and the tank manufacturer is Travel Star Products, Goshen. I found about a 1" crack right near drain fitting on the shower holding tank. When I flex the tank bottom, water droplets ooze out.

I recieved a reply from Eternabond:

Dear John,
We appreciate your interest in Eternabond.
Yes A-Seal will work with great results on ABS.

John,
Thank you for posting the Eternabond info regarding ABS. Think I'll get me some of that stuff!

I knew that. We used eternabond to attempt repair It worked fine on the crack I could repair but the crack ran over the top and we could not get at it.
