Sue C,

That's my next truck!! Congratulations and enjoy! Unfortunately for me it may be awhile, as I've only got 7,000 miles on mine.

My dad always told me - buy, then STOP looking .....Big Sky...08 F350....hahaha

Hi Brad, yeah, but at least you have both a truck AND a Montana, now. We still have to get the Montana or is it Big Sky, hmmmm, still haven't decided but found a fairly nearby dealer that is going to carry both, so can go take a look see at the Big Sky and then start the "dickering". Have fun. Sue C

"Ford post loss of 12.7 Billion"..That is Billion with a "B"" My guess is we will see some really good incentives on the 08's. It is also a very sad commentary on our auto industry. No losses were posted by Honda or Toyota///

Rich, I would'nt be holding my breath for an incentive on the 08's but there is a lot of 07's out there that they will be trying to get rid of.

This is probably more than you want to know about the 08 Ford S.D's. Note that if you get as far as the weight numbers when it says 6.0L it really means 6.4L.

Time will tell about incentives. A friend of mine who has been in the business for a very long time speculates that Ford needs to regain consumer confidence in the new 6.4 after the 6.0 experience and the way to do that is to get them in the hands of the consumer. There are of course many variables..The primary market for the SD is not the guy pulling a 5th wheel but the commercial market and advance orders will tell the tale.We know the owners of 2 Ford dealers in our home area and folks are not, thus far, lining up to order the 08.The next couple of months will be interesting.

Illipah, yes, you can get the SRW in the F350 for 2008. I saw it listed somewhere, just can't remember where. It's a big seller for Ford and has been for years and years so I wouldn't see it going away. You cannot get SRW in the new F450 pickup, however.

Sue C, like the others I would very much appreciate hearing how that 6.4 does and any problems you have with it. I just emailed you about that. We'll be in the market this summer. I really really really like what I see of the 2008 Super Duty and nothing else seems to match the ratings, although I have not yet seen the ratings for the new GMC, which I will also look at if the numbers are there and there is a 1 ton SRW available. I've had such good Fords that I'm leaning that direction if the 6.4 proves to be a good one, though.

Re the ratings...the new D/A LLM will be larger in size, more hp and more torque. Ford's tow rating is from the 4.88 rear axle.

Cat320, that tow rating with the 4.88 axle is for the F450 with the 24,000 lb FW tow rating. I have yet to see ratings on the F350 and F250 for 2008. They may be out there but I've not seen them. The ratings numbers in the past indicated what axle ratios they related to. for 2008 Ford is selling an F450 pickup with pickup bed. In the past it was chassis cab and you got your bed aftermarket. Not any more.

edited -- found the 2008 Ford Advance RV & Trailer Towing Guide at

The F450 diesel dually 4x2 with 4.88 axle has tow rating of 24,000 and GCWR of 33,000.

The same truck with 4.30 axle has tow rating of 20,500 and gcwr of 29,000.

The highest tow rating listed for an F350 is 18,200. GCWR is 23,000, same as the 2005/2006 F250 and F350.

Depends on which one of the sites you are looking at. You may be looking at the truck W/O the pickup box.

Steve...Thanks, I'm aware of that. My post was not clear, it was intended to refer to the F450.

c5racer...No way you could get a diesel at that weight. It is probably for the reg cab small gasser. Chevys are lots lighter than Fords (diesels) and my dually weighs 7145.

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php The 08 6.4's are at some dealers across the country and some on the Ford truck Enthusiasts forum have test drove them and reported on the results..might be of some interest to those who have ordered or are thinking about it (me)
