New to the Montana World

I'll introduce myself, my name is Jim, my wife name is Brenda. We have owned three (3) different units since we began camping. We enjoy it, you get to meet new people at the camp ground and enjoy talking about your and there experience as camper. We haven't had the opportunity to travel the way we would like to, but the day is coming, when we can hook to the camper and take off we are fortunate that we can keep the unit in the back yard and plugged in at all times, that way if the winter storm drop and foot of snow on us and the power go out we just head to the camper and enjoy the heat and we can still cook a meal until the power is restored.
We just purchase a used 2013 3582RL Montana and boy does it have a lot of room in it. We are calling it our retirement home on wheels. I'm still learning a lot about the unit and any help would be greatly appreciated. Like any used unit you find little things wrong with it, but the dealer is working with me to get the problem resolve.
We hope to meet more new people on the road in the coming years. So enjoy and happy travel.

Jim and Brenda Blackford

Welcome to the forum Jim and Brenda. By your name were you a loadmaster on military cargo planes?

Name

Yes I was and aircraft loadmaster on the C-130A,B,E & H3. I have over 7000 hours logged flying time. I enjoy it very must, meeting new people around the world, just likeI have done with our camper. I'm hoping to stary showing my wife the continental United States in about a year when I finally retire for the third time.

I was never a loadmaster just the poor guy that built the loads and did the weight and balance to load the aircraft. Have lots of friends that were loadmasters as it was part of my trade.
Enjoy your RV.

I take it you were in the Aerial Port area, or "MAPS" that is what it was called for years, that is where the loads were built up for shipping, we also had a airdrop area in my unit that we use to rig up airdrop load for training such as heavy equipment, CDS (container delivery system) that would be used for small airdrop of supply. That way the air crew could keep on all the training, if we were called to go and air drop cargo and personal (paratroopers). I retired out in October 2006 as a Chief Master Sergeant but I still miss the flying, the unit has since changed air-frame and are now flying the C-17 cargo jet. But one thing for sure when I hear the sound of a C-130 it sends chills up and down my spine. Then I sit back and think about the good old day, and all the places I have scene in my life time, that most people just dream about. But now it's time to make new memories with the camper.
So happy camping and be safe
Jim & Brenda
