Battery Issue

We leave ours plugged in all year long at the lake.
Up to 3 months ago we have had no problem, now I do.
I added one Gallon of distilled water to the battery last Sunday and could see it bubbling because I overfilled one cell. I put a gallon in 3 months ago also. I never knew they could hold a gallon. My neighbor there told me the battery must be going so I bought a new one on the way home. Think it is the battery?

If you added a gallon of water to the battery then that battery was almost completely dry. If that was so then the plates were without fluid and thus would not be nearly as strong as they should be. Even adding the water would not necessarily help that battery. It is a good thing you got a new one. If you leave the battery on charge all the time and don't visit and check them often then you may want to invest in the "maintenance free" type battery or get some of those special caps that will provide a supply of water to the battery automatically.

At least that is what I think may have happened. There are some battery experts on the forum and perhaps one or more of them will check in and straighten us out.
