Transfer Switch

For those of you that have a transfer switch have you had a problem with it?? I have gone thru 2, my third will be installed next week. This is less than a year, I have had 3 switches. Since I have extended warranty they will only put what is in there now back in to my unit. I have a Southwire Surge Guard model #41261 in my unit. Question: Is there a better transfer switch?? Do I need to carry an extra one so I can swap it out when this one goes??

The original Progressive Dynamics transfer switch was defective and recalled. I believe the replacement is a Southwire ATS.
Hopefully they are not putting the recalled model in.
