Practical. Looks like one of Bingo's mining sites, but hey, if it works, go with it.

I'm amazed at two things. First, there was a tarp that big being carried my somebody, and second, one carries a garden rake to use as a pole.
I often carry a canopy in the truck bed in case more cover is needed but it certainly isn't as big as this circus tent.
When camping with others, we often pick sites so we can park entry door to entry door, then awnings match up, but we always seem to have a gap, hence the fancy store-bought canopies fill in the gap, but only maybe. But in a pinch and you are alone and don't have a canopy, this ain't bad. I'd do that and there ain't a whole lot of Hillbilly in me. But does being a Texican count? The only difference would be beans and tortillas versus road kill and greens and I'm starting to get a taste for those.

Art,
I actually got a berating for having the rake in the rig from the DW. Turns out she had been looking for it at the house for yard work and it was missing. I have it in the rig for when we go to the beach to rake up the cigarette butts, pull tops, and twist-offs that some generous campers always seem to leave behind in the commercial campgrounds at Myrtle Beach. The tarp was pre-planning, since we knew the rainy forecast ahead of time, I do no usually carry it. The neat thing was that the tarp (12' x 24' by the way) had eight grommets on the short side, which enabled me to attach it to the awning roller with the aid of the slip-in rubber light hangers. I guess to take the hillbilly part out I am going to have to get a tan colored tarp so at least it coordinates with the awning!!!
