3725 bedroom slide problem

This is a cable slide, it started yesterday making a loud clunking noise going in. Today it will only go out about 5 inches the stops and make a lound gear grinding noise. It will move back in to normal stop and then the grinding noise starts again.
I thought at the rally they said a gear could go bad. Any ideas?

Thanks

Don

You may want to check the rollers on the outside. They are at the bottom of the slide. Mine has 3 roller the slide rides on.

That sounds like the gear box. I think there must be a worm gear in it that has striped out. Get in the bed stand up and look down on the gear box and run the slide out until the noise starts. Does the noise come from the gear box? You have 8 cables. Is one of them loose? That would be a broken cable end. Let me know. This should be no problem to fix. If my guess is right you will need a gear box or a cable.

And look at where the chains convert to the steel cables. All of the connectors should be straight up and down so they can freely pass each other...but lynnwood probably has nailed it. John

Sound like it from gear box. Calling factory Monday to ask about upgrading to high torque motor kit. Dont know why this slide doesnt have a high torque. Its full slide with washer/dryer in it . Lots to move with a standard motor.

It doesn't have a high torque motor because it doesn't need one. My 13 foot long main slide has one. It weighs 3 times as much as a bedroom slide.

I wasn't aware you had a long bedroom slide. Yes you should have the high TQ motor. Before you install it go to the manufactures web site to see how to adjust the cables. I haven't found one that was adjusted right.

Cogs, and cables that have to be exactly adjusted with no limit switch. We have had our bedroom slide adjusted slightly on two occasions just to make sure it was coming in and going out correctly and to make sure the bedroom door was closing ok. It is a very long and heavy slide plus the weight of the washer and dryer. We have been very careful to stop pushing the slide in/out button when the slide is fully closed/opened. We do wish they would have hung the bedroom door from the opposite side so to make it easier the access bedroom without dodging around the open door.

Recumbent: We removed the bedroom door on ours. As you said, it is always in the way when walking in and out of the bedroom. We figured we are usually the only ones in the rig so we really didn't need the bedroom door anyways.

If we do need to block the opening off for some reason we just open the bathroom door all the way and it blocks it off just fine.

Ordered new motor and gearbox today. There is an updated version. Will let you know how it went after parts arrive.

Thanks for all your ideas.

PackerFan thanks, we occasionally have over night guests and often have neighbors stop by and need to use the door. I think the door could be flipped up side down and reversed to opposite wall without any issues. Thinking of making that my next mod.

Got new gearbox yesterday. Put in today in about 2 hours. Put bungee cords on cable to keep tension on them to keep them on pulleys. Remove chain by removing from one cable connector on each side. remove gearbox. Reverse procedure and now the slide goes in and out again.

Thanks for the update on your problem. I have the 3800re with the same slide, I know it is a matter of time before I will have to replace this motor, therefore any information you can provide on the new motor model number, price and place of purchase would be quite helpful.
One helpful hint , make sure the unit is completely level before extending this slide ie. Never extend this slide while still hitched.

Thanks
ED

Just left a park after sitting for 2 months, one slide would only go half way then the grinding sound from the gearbox so had to push from outside while pushing the button. Apparently only a few teeth on the gear are missing because it would engage and drive intermittently. Will be on the phone Monday morning, hope it's a quick turn around.

Sounds like the gear box. The number is on the side of the gearbox. A older style is R25062 and the improved version is R25076. I had the R25076 so I guess its not all that improved.Call Norco at 574-262-3400 ask for service, very helpfull and will give you a distributor to by from.

Thanks, waiting on call back from distributor, hopefully express shipping won't break the bank.

Did you happen to open the old gearbox and take pics?

I am facing the same task on my 2015 3611. I got the slide out, access panel removed, motor removed and new gearbox in hand. I stopped there because I wasn't sure how to proceed and didn't want to have cables coming off pulleys causing even bigger problems. It sounds like you didn't loosen any individual cable adjustment nuts, just the center bolt on one bracket on each side. Is that correct?

Thanks,
Andy
