Anybody know if Ford has corrected this problem on the newer 2021's?

I've never had it on my 2018 which now has just over 75,000 miles on all original steering and suspension components. I did get a letter from Ford extending the warranty on the stabilizer.

That being said I have heard of newer trucks doing it.

Its my understanding that if the alignment is right, all the components are tight, and it has a good stabilizer it won't do it. Even motorcycles are known for doing it. I think it's a phenomenon that has to be kept from "feeding itself". I know straight axle 4x4 trucks don't have a whole lot of positive caster which is what helps keep the steering straight at speed.

If you are considering changing caster to a higher positive degree number, be advised that this is a costly venture on a Ford (and possibly other brands) since there is no eccentric cam to adjust. It requires special shims and and a partial front suspension tear down. On a diesel truck - even more bucks since nothing is easy to reach or even see.



IIRC, Ford specs are +2 - 4 degrees. Currently mine is at +3.8 and with new tie rod ends and stabilizer, pretty tight steering anf no wobble.


For what it's worth, if yours has 20-40,000 miles and you haven't had the "experience" yet, you may never and nothing to worry about. There are hundreds of thousands Ford owners that have never had a problem. Just be aware it can happen. For myself, I have too many other worrysome situations - i.e., that moron that thinks brake checking me with that 12++K lb. tow is funny.

Thanks everyone for all the information the Ford Death Wobble or Super Duty Hop which every term you wish to use!
I called my dealer in Phoenix and they said to bring it in ASAP and they would do the repair plus there was another recall on some other parts they would perform also. They are running behind so I cannot get it in until December 2nd, but that is all ok since it is covered under warranty and the camper is still in the shop and will be until mid December. Thanks again!!!!

2012 Death wobble

I have a 2012 F350 swd and it happed to me not long after I bought it (about a year). Was doing about 65 around a curve, no bump, and about wet all over myself. It continued till I got pulled over and almost stopped. Took it to my local dealer and him fixed it somehow. Got 90000 on it now and never had any more issues. He said something about changing out some bad bolts.
