New 2011 Montana 3750FL for Christmas!

Based upon the feedback from other members, we have been considering moving to a Montana 3750FL this coming spring. Dealer pricing has been extremely agressive the last few weeks and we are moving the schedule up to pick up a 2011 unit Wednesday, 22 December.

We will be doing the using walkthrough and would appreciate any feedback on areas we should take extra care to check out (like verifying the hide-a-bed mattress is the correct size).

Awesome Christmas present. Congratulations.
Have you heard of someone getting the wrong size hide a bed mattress?
There are so many things that could be checked on RV's nowadays, you need to spend time in the rig with full hook-ups and just use everything you can think of. When we picked up our new Monty in September, the only thing that was needed was to have the pin box lowered so the trailer would be level when hitched. It also gave us better clearance between the truck bed rails and the trailer. A few of the cupboard latches weren't perfectly aligned and allowed the doors and drawers to open during travel. I'll tend to that.
Enjoy your new home away from home

Review and take one of these PDI checklists from the MOC website. The links you want are on the upper right under "PDI - PreDelivery Inspection":

http://www.montanaowners.com/RVRelatedLinks.html#pdi

You might have to review them and add those additional things that are available on your rig that might not be in these lists. Things are added to rigs all the time and I don't know how often these PDI listings are updated. But these should be a great start.

Contratulations on your new Monty!

There are three recalls that I am aware of with regards to the 3750FL, I would let the dealer know before the PDI is scheduled that you expect those items to be addressed immediately if the factory has not resolved them. The three recalls are the Norcold Fridge, the axle support and the transfer switch box if you are having the rig generator equipped at the factory. This is a heavy rig and the first thing I did before accepting delivery was work out a deal to get the Mara-bomb tires replaced. Other than those items we never had any problems with the new 3750FL. Keep us informed!!

I agree with Bingo, make the dealer swap out the china bomb tires for something better. A search will turn up several recommendations. Congratulations on your new rig.

Congratulations! That is a huge Christmas present!
I second others recommendations of using the PDI list provided here. May I also suggest that you do the PDI a few days BEFORE delivery where you can take your time and not be otherwise involved in the business of taking delivery. You can then provide the dealer with a "punch list" of things you want addressed PRIOR to delivery (this is when YOU have the power). The day of delivery, you simply check out the items you submitted on your "punch list" making sure they were done and away you go!
Best of luck to you on your new Montana. Merry Christmas!

What a great Christmas present. Ours was a Christmas present also, only Santa came in September. The PDI checklist and see Bingo's comments. Congrats!

Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice. We went through the PDI and found only a couple minor issues which they promised in writing to address during the generator installation in two weeks. We have spent most of our time over the last few days finding new places to store everything and buying new bedding (yes, the wife is heartbroken having to go shop). The maiden voyage will be December 30th for four days. Merry Christmas to all!

I really feel sorry for Rudolf!! He really had quite a load this year! Many happy "camping" days.
