We will be spending next week at the Eagle's Nest Campground in Pigeon Forge, TN. We're leaving today. If you are in the area, stop by and see us.

Eagle's Nest has added free WIFI since last year. Now I can get my MOC fix while on vacation. This is great!!

Dreamer, will you be towing through the Smoky Mountains National Park? i have been over that route several times, but never with an RV. I would like to hear a voice of experience on the advisability about doing so.

We will be on the North Carolina side in May.

Padredw, we have towed out 32' fifth wheel several times across the Smokey Mountains but never the Tana. We would not hesitate to try it though.

David,

We have pulled our TT over the mountains between Cherokee and Gatlinburg many times. The F250 is able to pull through the climb with plenty of power left over. There may be a couple of outcroppings on some of the outside curves that are a little close, but I just make those curves a little long and ride the yellow line. On the downward side I just take it out of overdrive and gear down to 2nd for the really steep grades to keep the brakes cooled. It would be nice to have an engine brake but I don't travel enough in mountains to warrant the expense.

I don't think you will have any problems and the drive is beautiful!!

P.S. Tell Shirley that Debbie just copied her recipe for the strawberry pie. I think I'll be the benficiary tomorrow!!

Thanks to both of my Forum friends for the courtesy and helpfulness of your responses. I guess the major concern I should have about towing through S.M.N.Park is the traffic congestion. We tow regularly in Colorado and New Mexico and have never had a problem. It is reassuring to know that you have been over that North Carolina/Tennessee route without trouble. I am still not sure we will leave by that route, but your encouragement makes that an available option.

Had another piece of that really good pie last night. Shirley will be glad to know her sharing will be appreciated.
