2005 F350 PSD, CC, SWD, 4x4

Hello...

Does anyone have a 2005 F350 PSD, CC, SWD, 4x4? We just purchased one and we really want to purchase a Montana from someone out of state. We've never owned a 5'er before, and we're concerned that the bedrails may be too high and end up meeting w/ the Montana. We don't want to drive 8 hours to go get it and find we can't tow it. We saw someone hooking up their Montana to a F350 DWD, but our truck just looked so much higher. Is this a concern? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Have a GREAT day!

Dawn,
We have a 2003 F350 Crew Cab, Single rear wheel, Short bed, with a 70 gallon Trans-flo bed fuel tank.
We have no problem hauling our 3400RL.
We put in a 16K Hidden Hitch. Which is adjustable in hitch height.
We put a Pop-up 10" hitch extention onto the trailer gooseneck, so I didn't have to put a slider hitch in.
You should be all set with your truck.

You won't have any problem. We tow a Montana with a 2000 Ford F350 SRW long bed that has the campers special package on it so the rear end sits high (heavy duty springs). But with the Montana on the back it sits level. We also added Air Bags on the rear of the truck and they helps the bouncing you will get with a 5th wheel. Several members have them on their trucks. Just remeber to raise the Montana high when you come off the hitch so it doesn't hit the sides of the truck and lower the rear tail gate. I always have my wife near the switch to see if I have to any higher as I come off the hitch slowly.

You'll have no problems with it. The Montana is high anyhow in the pin area. We towed ours with a 1999 F350 4x2 and a 2003 F350 4x4 and the Montana was level and there was plenty of clearance over the bedrails on both. 9 inches on the 4x2 and 7 1/2 inches on the 4x4. If you find the Montana not sitting level as you like, there will be heighth adjustment in the hitch and also in the pinbox on the Montana to remedy that. Check this at the dealer and make them make the adjustments for you before you leave their place. We're now towing the same Montana with the F250 version of your 2005. You're gonna love the way the Montana tows, how the truck handles it, and that new builtin brake controller.

There are a lot of Montanas out there being towed with the same truck you have without problem. So I don't think there's a need for concern. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes. Hope you find many years of enjoyment with the new rig.
