SPST Switch stock mumber

Need some info, I plan on putting one of the Hunter thermostats in the Montana. Seems I recall a post that gave the stock number for the switch at Radio Shack. I know it is a SPST switch but I would like to have the stock number. Tried search without any luck.
Thanks in advance!

Kozzy45 Ed,

When converting over to the Dig. thermostat, the one that a lot of us used made us decide where we we wanted to wire the fan permamently either on high or low speed.

Adding this switch allowed us to switch back and forth between high and low fan.

You can see this installation by going to "fulltimedreamer" under members, look for links to his homepage, then for improvements on the next page and then for Thermostat up-grade.

On mine I drilled a small hole just above the new Therm. installed the switch there. Looks like it came from the Factory that way.

Happy Camping

So you changed to a Digital Thermostat and added a switcj to change the fan speed without pulling the chain?
That is awsome. I will check out Fulltimers info, but can you email me some more information on this, I would definatly like to look into this more, pictures too and model numbers, if you have it and it is not too much trouble.

Thanks

OK, I get it, it is for the AC fan. and the switch you installed along with the digital therm allows you to switch between hi and low with the AC fan. Does the digital therm give a muc better control over the climate? Do you notice a big difference?
Also, I searched Radio Shack for the part number for that switch, but could not find it.

Ed,

I know the Dig. Therm. has a 1 deg. swing for turning the A/C or Heat on/off. The orig. may be more which gives less comfort. I think the biger advantage is you can set it by a number instead of a bar. It's easier to pick a number than trying to fish around to set the bar the same every time.

On fulltimedreamer's info. he has also put more installation instructions on an additional page that's accessed at the bottom left corner of the instruction page in case you have a little different style you'er dealing with. If you can print out his info. and have it right there when installing it quite simple.

I bought the Hunter Mod. 42995B from WalMart and Radio Shack has the switch hanging on the shelf. If the Switch number doesn't ring a bell for them, It's a mini SPST. You'll need to solder a couple of small wires just a few inch. in length on to the switch and install the switch just above the new Therms. outline. This is the hard part if you have fat fingers. It won't hurt if you open the hole behind the therm. a bit to help in the installation of the switch. After I was ready to mount the new Therm. for the last time I stuffed some foam rubber into the hole.

I you need more help just holler.

Isn't this a great forum?

Sounds great, thanks for the info.
Has anyone seen a digital therm with the hi/lo built in?
This sounds like a great upgrade, I want to see if there is a switch like that out there, might save me from putting in the second switch. I know there are some RV manu. that have dig therms, so there might be a therm out there already.

Thanks again

We had a motorhome that had what you are looking for so they are out there. It was a Dynasty by Monaco.

Radio Shack make both a slide switch and a toggle switch, either will work. I used the toggle becoause it was easier to mount on the thermostat case, you just have to drill one 1/4" hole. I used a White Rodgers thermostat, mostly because it was on sale at the time, but it has a little bit more room inside the case to install the switch and accomodate the wires, otherwise it works the same as the Hunter. (It does actually say in the instructions that it can be use on 12v mobile home systems).

So far as a thermostat that is actually designed for RV applications, there is now one made by Atwood that might work, but I can't tell for sure from the catalogue that I have whether it operates a two speed fan. (Atwood part no. 38555).

Later: Found it on the web and yes it does do 2-speed fan. Check the Atwood site: http://www.atwoodmobile.com/viewPDF....thermostat.pdf

John -

Any idea on cost? I am having a new remote ordered for my '05 Montana. If the new one doesn't work, I might replace with a digital. Thanks for the information.

I found the Atwood in the catalog, if it is the same one, it was around $130, a little to much I think, I am still looking for others. I asked the Montana salesmen today at the show if he knew of one, and he said no, but he said Montana does now offer the remote control thermo.

I used a toggle swith and mounted it in the wall right above the stat because it was easier.
