Bugs on the End Cap
Anyone out there figured out anything to put on the end cap so bugs don't accumulate while the reailer is being towed?

A snap on vinyl cover with the Montana logo like on the front cap would be a good option.

I have been using stuff called ReJex and it is doing a good job, not at keeping bugs off the 5th wheel, but it does make getting them off the trailer much easier. Most of the bugs rinse off with a hose and the rest wash right off with soap and water with little or no scrubbing.

I wash mine of each evening while traveling. If you remove them right away they are easier to get off verses waiting a week.

I have heard that Pam cooking spray works really well... Just spray on and go. Bugs from what I hear just come right off. Have not tried it yet. Still waiting for someone to be brave enough to give it a whirl.

Thanks for this tip. I am moving my 5th Wheel up from Austin to Ft Worth this weekend - we will be living in it for a few months while a new home is being built. I will give the Pam thing a try and will post a reply so all will know.

Wendy and I washed our 3670 last sunday after a week long trip in Michigan. After strugling with only a rag and a bucket of Starbrite RV wash Wendy had me try a MR CLEAN eraser pad.It made the job a lot easier.I just stayed away from the decals. My problem areas are the front cap, under the spot lights, and gutters. It also help whiten the vent cover for the stove. It would be nice to be able to clean it quick and easily at a campground though. I, just like everyone here take great pride in my camper.

Another option is using baby oil on the front. Helps prevent the bugs from sticking. Of course you need to rinse off soon when you stop. To scrub off the bugs try "Bounce". The cloths really work well in removing the bugs

John,
I don't think anyone makes a front cover for 5th wheels. At least I've never seen any. You may be able find an upohlstery shop that would custom make one for you.

I can check into getting one custom made locally here. And post the approximate cost. Other projects like this are costly on a custom basis however.
Question is the Monatana Logo copyrighted?

here is a link to one of the best spray on bug removers i have used.
it is called Bugs-B-Gone. you just spray the surface, wait about a minute and rinse. the bugs just wash off.
i have used this stuff and it really works well.
give it a try

Our 2850 sits in the sun so naturally the caps are starting to get a little chalky. Before this gets away from us any magic potions to shine it up again?

I haven't yet found anything that works really well for me so am all ears on this one. I did try the baby oil "trick" I read on another forum. A light spray of baby oil before hitting the road really did make bugs come right off but it tended to accumulate dirt also. Looked pretty bad by the end of the day, requiring that I clean it up right away when we got set up.

A tip from a car detailer: apply a very thin coat of petroleum jelly [Vaseline] to the clean nose.
Unlike PAM, etc., it won't cause any discoloration, it won't affect the decals, and the bugs will rinse off with a garden hose.
I've been using this for the past year on both the Montana and the Dodge with highly satisfactory results.
FWIW, the easiest applicator is a "Swiffer" with a cheap cotton bar towel wrapped around it used from inside the bed AFTER hitching up.
