Pacific Tire - Mount Vernon, Washington

I'm aware that I'm in an SOB, and that many of my requirements are not even close to being similar to the Montana. But tire service applies to all of us.

My SOB weighs in excess of 30k pounds loaded with TOAD. On the 18th of June I had a inner rear dual blow-out. It felt like I ran over a large metal object in the road. I was able to pull over within a 100 yards or so, and the only way I could tell that I had a blow out was to check the air. One tire showed 0, so I immediately realized it was a blow-out. It was a "Zippered" blow-out. Many factors can lead to this type of blow out, which I will not get into right now. I was very fortunate in may ways. First, A good Samaritan pulled up and informed me that Pacific Tire was just across the freeway, of course on the other side. He drove there, gave them my phone number, and they called and had a service truck there with a spare (used tire) in very good shape. They did not have any new tires in stock. The spare allowed me to continue on to our CG, 30 miles away. Here is what I posted on two SOB forums, and I want to share it with you, just in case you are ever in the Mount Vernon, WA area.

"Pacific Tire, 501 Jacks Lane, Mount Vernon, Washington, is the place to go (360-428-8612 - 24hr). I recently posted that I had a blow out. A good Samaritan named John came to my coach while I was trying to find service and told me that Pacific Tire was just across the freeway about 1/2 mile. What a good fortune that was. It was a better fortune that Pacific Tire serviced my motorhome. I ordered two tires, on a Friday, and they were in on Monday. We had planned on being in the area for 4 nights, and Pacific Tire had a used 255/80R22.5 that they put on to get me 30 miles to my destination. When I asked to settle up, they said, when you come back. Being from Texas, that is just down right countrified. And back I was. Every one of the personnel in Pacific Tire are nice and friendly. A very professional group of hospitable people. The owner is Skip Montgomery, and it is apparent that everyone working there is happy. The manager is Jim Coffman, and he was just superb to work with. I don't believe I received any discounts, and I have no affiliation with Pacific Tire. My total cost was $1079. Talk about fair pricing! Wow!

If I could post this on every RV forum and Truckers forum, I would. Because of the superb service and fair pricing that Pacific Tire has. If you are in the area, and you need any type of tire service, maybe you are just in the need of new shoes, I would highly recommend Pacific Tire, Mount Vernon, Washington. "

I I truly wish that no MOC'ers need emergency tire service, but if you do, and you are near Pacific Tire, Mount Vernon, WA - you know where to go.

Oh! And another good fortune - there was absolutely no damage to my rig.

Wayne, thanks for the post. It really is good to hear that there are GREAT companies out there that will provide the good old fashioned service that once was provided. My hat is off to Pacific Tire and if in the area we certainly will use them if we need anything.

Wayne, thanks for the information...it seems that all you hear these days are the stories of service companies sucking all they can from the consumer and giving as little as possible back. If the need every comes up, we will know where to go for tires...Pacific Tire!
