Replacing plumbing vent cap

On the roof recently and noticed I was missing one of the small round vent caps. Also noticed some streaks in the area showing that at some time I had caught a low tree branch down the top curb side of the trailer. No roof damage fortunately.
The caps snap on, but also have a screw hole to secure them better. But the part of the base where the screw goes into was broken off. Bought another cap and snapped it on and it seemed pretty tight so I thought it might hold ok without the screw. Wrong. First trip out and it is missing again.
So I guess I need to replace the base also. Question is, how do you remove the caulking around the base to get the base off? And what kind of caulking do you use to put it back on?
Or I may just use a little Gorilla glue and snap another back on.

I lost three and the last time it even broke the stub on the roof off. Had to replace the whole thing and re caulk with dicor caulk.

When I returned home fron that trip I found one of the caps in the ditch about two hundred feet from my drive. Then I found the limb that had caused all the problems and eliminated it.

No more caps lost in over a year.

You might try a bead of silicone on the inside and than slide it on.
I would be afraid to put in a retaining screw,if you hit a branch it might rip the whole fixture off the roof instead of just the cap.

They make a "generic" replacement one with a metal springy clip thing-a-majig inside it to hold it on.
