KR1 Router works with second computer
We had a pleasant surprise today when Glen's new laptop arrived a week earlier than expected. Once we got through the preliminaries, the laptop and the router both work like champs. So we have proven that the router will work just as well with two computers. It's so awesome to have a wireless network right here at the stick house. There's nothing to the operation. Just log on the IE or Firefox (we're a divided household) and you're up and running. No other ISP needed. We have email accounts with Yahoo and Gmail already so we'll just use those.

Be sure to change the ssid from the factory setting and "lock' your router using WPA, especially if you have file sharing enabled on any of the computers. The owners manual will tell you how. Don't use your name, address, phone #, or any other personal information for the new ssid. Use a password type series of letters, numbers and symbols for the pass phrase for WPA, not words found in a dictionary. I would suggest something like: my pass phrase = mYpa2sspHraS#e

I am VERY interested in this set up, using Alltel's card. I am very happy to se that there is no problem with the 2 computer setup. Judy the only site I found on the KR1 tied it with Verizon. I know that Alltel's card also works in it though. Probably have to check with the Alltel people (read: "more money") to get this up and running after June 3rd.
*On Edit~ Skip, I may contact you directly when I get this setup, as I do want to encrypt my system

Duh, guess I'd better find out what 'encrypt' means.
