KeyTV Issues on 2022 Montana 3231CK

When I scan for TV channels, the living area TV doesn't find any channels and the bedroom TV gets 42 channels. There is nothing hooked up to the MSSC and the blue light is on. The big TV works on ROKU. I have changed the Multisource Signal Controller and the coax connections at the TV, the wall plug, and the MSSC are all tight. The troubleshooting guide recommends checking the Diplexer. My question is where is the Diplexer located? What other areas should I look at?

I believe the multiplexer is the KeyTV. Unscrew the panel and check the connections there.

I think if you are scanning where the Roku is you have to change the input for that TV to antennae or cable.

I believe the diplexer is the connection attached to the wall plate. Take the wall plate off and swap it with another one that is working. That should give you an idea if it is the diplexer or a wiring issue.

As I understand it, there are no splitters or other connections between the key tv module in the wet bay and the wall plates at the tv’s. My reception improved after I removed the key tv at the wet bay and tightened the cable ends which most of were loose. The key tv module in my trailer looks like the one in Tony’s post above with each tv having its own port. In essence, the key tv is the splitter.

I had the same issue with my TV. The problem was that the cables coming to the TV were not hooked up properly and were loose.

Quality control here was an issue. Also my sound system was wired incorrectly as well

It's going to be something simple. Start there first

good luck keep us posted

It is my understanding as well that there isn't any splitters in the newer units, but instead dedicated lines from the KeyTV unit to the wall outlets for each TV location. I could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time and wouldn't be the last.
I wouldn't assume the cables at the wall plates were physically attached to their corresponding correct positions. Quick check would be to simply hook the living room TV up to the cable port at the wall outlet instead and then do a channel search.
I see this was your first post so a hardy welcome to the MOC family from a fellow Texan. You'll find lots of helpful and friendly folks here when you have questions.
Let us know how you come out. Safe travels and happy camping.

Since the BR TV is receiving OTA signals the KeyTV box is working.. at least on that output to the TV.

I would go back and remove the coax at the wall plate to the LR TV set and make sure about 1/4 inch of the center wire on the coax cable is protruding out of the F connector.. Do this for the ends of coax that run from wall plate to that TV set as well

** Ang go back and remove the coax F connector on the keytv box for the LR TV and do the same check as above..

If you have a multimeter you can also verify the entire coax cable from end to end to that TV set

Set meter ohms scale and remove coax at KeyTV box end.. Now go inside at wall plate and remove coax coming from KeyTV to wall plate.

Use a long enough light gauge piece of wire to run from the meter lead to the coax outside and connect it to the center pin on F connecter.

G inside with meter other end of that piece of wire.. Now measure by placing one lead on center pin of that coax and other meter lead to that wire end you dragged inside.

You should.. even with 35 feet or so if wire measure less than 1 ohm resistance..

This tells you the center to center of coax has continuity and now measure on the side of the F connecter inside and outside to verify the " shield side" of the coax has continuity...

If both above checks measure less than 1 ohm than the coax and connections on it are good and the output from the KeyTV is bad on that one output

To verify just temp swap BR TV and LR TV coax connections at KeyTV module.. If LR now finds OTA TV stations and BR does not then you know where the issue is

There ARE NO SPLITTERS in the coax feed lines to each TV set

One other caveat...the Keystone video about the KeyTV system advises that if you want to watch over-the-air channels you should not be hooked up to a cable TV input. Since you are getting channels on the bedroom TV, this might not be a factor, but it's one of those subtle nuances of the system.

I have the KeyTV in my 2022 3121RL and tried to hook up cable for the first time this past month. It works great for antenna scanning on both TV's. But with the cable hooked up it worked for a couple channels on bedroom TV and none on the living room TV - for both cable and antenna. Take off the cable and the antenna worked again. In all the trouble shooting I also took the KeyTV unit out of the equation by using a barrel and connecting direct to each TV individually for cable. The TV's picked up all cable channels correctly. The KeyTV unit was bad. Yes, all cables are dedicated with different colors. Of course there could be splitters in-line, but lets hope not. After reading other threads here, it seems the KeyTV is troublesome at best. Anyway - the KeyTV and how it is supposed to work is a great idea, but not so much in practice. The good news was that Keystone agreed to send me a brand new on them even though I am 6 months outside my year warranty. Very nice of them. I still have to test it, but hey, maybe I'll get lucky. Not sure what I will do if this one doesn't work either. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just installed my 3rd MSSC and fingers crossed it will work properly this time. I talked with Keystone tech support and they were no help at all. I'm about to hit the road for a month and really don't want to fight this the whole trip.

Late to the party here, but I have one cable from my KeyTV controller that goes to the LR and connects to a splitter behind the Sat/TV connection wall plate. When I was troubleshooting cable TV problems, I removed the splitter and used a barrel connector to send the cable signal directly to the TV. The splitter I removed enables Sat voltage to ride the cable without it showing up on the TV feed and possibly causing damage. Didn't do anything for my problem.
