lost AC power

All of a sudden this morning we lost AC power. We are running on our DC system and inverter for now. Our SurgeGuard at the post is showing green with 124 volts on each leg.

Did my transfer switch just go?

Any suggestions for how to proceed.

More than likely, that is the case. If you can take the panels off to get to your transfer switch, there is a single screw at the top to remove the cover. Use an insulated screwdriver and exercise the relay. You can try doing it without power first. That worked for me. Then check to make sure it latches when power is applied. They have been replacing those with Southwire switch/EMS combo. We do not have generator prep, so ours was not needed. Replaced with a hardwired Hughes Watchdog. Good luck.

Thanks, now I just need to find it. I have been removing panels to find it.

Found transfer switch behind the panel that is behind the stairs. After testing, one red lug was loose. Tightened and back in service! Thanks.

John, glad you got it fixed. Our transfer switch failed while we were boondocked at 10,000 ft. It’s a little disconcerting when you are trying to charge and your battery is getting lower. Enjoy your time camping.

Another thing I will throw out. Others recommend opening the fuse panel with power unhooked. Then tighten all screws on the lines to/from the panel. Many have complained that things quit working and it was the loose screws. I have never had this problem yet, tho.

It is probably a good idea to check all electrical connections for tightness periodically. I had a main 12V wire loosen inside the SSF box. Would not have discovered it if it did not start arcing, overheating and stinking. This is the main 12V feed from the batteries. Matt sent me a new fuse block but it was a pita to replace.

Best Regards, Mike
