10 Cu Ft Refrigerater Option
My understanding is the 10 cu ft refer is the same outside dimensions as the 8 cu ft. They use thinner insulation "Thinsulate" or something... Same compressor in both units. Have there been anymore problems with the 10 cu ft than the 8 cu ft units?
Thanks

pkhjr..Your understanding is correct. We asked that question on our factory tour Oct 4th.When you look at the two side by side there does not appear to be much difference. We will go to best buy and get a apt sized refer to use when we are snow birding or long timing.

to look at it , you would have to look twice to see the differance. we ordered the bigger unit, and when it came in...I was shocked! I expected to see something much bigger!

The difference is in the depth. The 10 footer is deeper. I have not heard about insulation being less and I seriously doubt that's the case. The fridge has to hold its cool and you can't do that with less insulation. I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. Biggest difference I noticed between the 8 and 10 footers was about $1000 to $1500 or in that neighborhood. That's why we stayed with the 8 footer.

Paul & CeCe, in re-reading your post I realize I may have missed one of your points. Is "thinsulate" a material that provides equal insulative value in a thinner material?
Thanks.

Steve: Correct. They now use it in gloves, boots etc. for warmth.

That's a ridiculous price difference for just a little more space.

I don't know how big the refrigerator and freezer were in my 1999 Komfort 5er, but I ordered the 10 cu ft in the montana, and believe me I can get ALOT more in this one. and when you take the usual 25 - 30% off, it's worth the extra. My opinion only.

Well, that explains why I can get a gallon of milk in there.

We find the 10 to hold everything we take with no problems, our last 8 didn't!

Shoot, Sharon, we had two gallons of milk in our 8 yesterday! Along with everything else fulltimers keep in the fridge.
I wouldn't mind having the 10 at all and I know Vicki would like that. When this one wears out we'll have to check into that.
A gallon of milk is two cubic feet? Not by my tape measure! Or are they saying more of the increase is in the freezer than in the fridge? Or is the freezer included in the advertised 8 or 10 cubic feet?
