WOW, Sorry to hear that...I am surprised but also understand it can happen to anything mechanical new or used. But for the money you pay and the huge inconvenience it is an extremely hard pill to swallow... Wish you well & good luck!!!

I used to think that to, but according to a few mechanics I've spoken with they only "test" a certain amount of selected engines. I don't believe any manufacture does an after assembly bench test anymore. But I could be wrong.

Sorry to hear about the new truck. I don't think you can go wrong with either Dodge, Ford or GM/Chevy. They all can have issues or not. Sounds like your dealership is trying to make it right for you guys.

This is the very first I have heard of a cummins failure. They are a tried and tested engine.

I'm interested too. I'd love to know the result of this.
I rented a new RAM Truck with Hemi two years ago (2022) for a week. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with it. I hated the dial to change gears. It just seemed unnatural. I also didn't care for how tall the hood was. it seemed to take 1/3 of the windshield, making parking difficult. I'm sure I could have gotten used to it. There was a huge amount of foot room in it - almost too much. It was nice other than that.
I ended up getting an older '04 Dodge 2500 5.9 Cummins. It's got a lot of power and gets very good mileage unhitched and not bad when pulling.
Speed is where I can make it or break it! The onboard computer reports when towing the fifth wheel I can get 11 MPG at 55 MPH or at 72 MPH I can get 7.

Sorry about the lack of update,
They bought the truck back and we are still using the trusty ole 2005 Ram with the 5.9 Cummins. I can't justify buying a new one now. Prices are nuts and this one is running great.
