Need Data: Trailer not receiving gen pwr

I need a big favor.
Problem:
I have a 2021 Montana 3120RL with Super Solar Flex. When I connect any generator the Power Control System Central Monitor display shows a reading of 65V on Line 1 & Line 2. The reading should be normal 115V.
Discussion:
I'll spare you all the trouble shooting effort that continues for my trailer. It would make this post way too long. The good folks at Keystone picked it up last Fall and are still having trouble with it. I'd like to survey this group and see if any one else is experiencing this issue.
Favor:
We need some data.
1. Does anyone else have a similar reading with similar trailer?
With your gen connected do you get 65V vice 115V?
2. Does anyone else have a normal reading with similar trailer?
With your gen connected do you get 115V? If yes, what model gen is it?

Thanks so much for your input!

Thanks Daryles and Carl. That's my original post in Jan, your trouble shooting ideas were great but no luck. I'm desperately trying to find out who else is having this issue hence the data request. I'd really like to hear from someone who has the Super Solar Flex option on their Montana and is able to use their generator as well. By this I mean their PCS display shows normal 115V instead of 65V and no Brown Out. Likewise anyone who has the same problem I do. I can't be the only guy with this issue!!
Thanks again,
Brad

Sounds like floating neutral issue that is not uncommon with portable generators. Google your generator model along with "floating neutral".

Thanks RipNC. I wish that was the problem but it was ruled out early in the trouble shooting. I've tried several generators since and different methods of grounding. No luck. The dealership did their best and now it's back at the factory in Goshen. I gotta believe someone out there is having the same problem.

Long way to go for an electrical exorcism... Let us know what the final diagnosis is!

Ok you have the factory installed super solarflex package. I'm guessing it has a built in EMS and transfer switch.
Any chance you could bypass the EMS to see it it will take power?
If it does have the factory installed transfer switch,
That's a Progressive Dynamics Automatic transfer switch. They have had a lot of trouble with them lately and I believe they were recalled.

You are correct Daryles. The transfer switch has been replaced, however, I don't think the EMS has been bypassed. My post title is misleading: "Trailer not receiving gen pwr". Actually it's not receiving proper power. The read out on the PCS display is 65V instead of 115V and I get a Brown Out warning. This can damage any AC system if you try to operate one, ie microwave, air cond etc. I'll certainly pass on your suggestion to the Keystone Techs on bypassing the EMS. You can charge batteries with the gen but the inverter has to be off. Otherwise the trailer may go dark. I've asked the Keystone Tech to check proper installation of the inverter as far as grounding. The manual is very specific on installation. I'd really like to know if anyone else has this issue or what generator they're using if they don't!

I have supersolar and experienced the exact issue.
The fix was a bonding plug, plugged into the generator.

A bonded plug ties the neutral and ground.

Thanks Arkware. I bought 2 Ground Neutral Plugs, one for each of my Honda 2000's. I also used my neighbors 4000W gen with no help. What generator are you using?

I have a champion 3400.
Another MOC member has 2 Hondas.
We both need the bonding plug.

I think it's pretty standard that inverter generators have a floating ground.

Thank goodness we have Montana s with PCS.

I do not have the Super Solar, just the smaller solar flex, but I did replace the progressive dynamics transfer/surge with the watchdog surge and dedicated PD transfer. When I parallelled my two Honda 2200's, it would shut the surge protector down. I tried first one and then two of the grounded plugs, to no avail. Then I switched the two parallel wires around on the gennys, with one grounding plug, and that was the trick. No problems since. Maybe this will help. Good luck.

Thanks Greg! I will try switching the parallel wires and see if that works. Can you connect a single Honda Gen without problems?

Brad, ours works fine with one or two Honda 2000’s. You only need one bonding plug on one of the Honda’s. Once the neutral and ground are bonded, it will be the same through the system. Good luck testing the systems.
