Awning issue

While we have had our Montana parked for a couple of years the awning fabric has come detached from the awning rail. It is on the end over the entry door and maybe only 2-3 inches, but I assume this will continue to progress over time. Is this a DYI fix?

We extended the awnings last week due to the time they have not been utilized and the awning fabric looks great.

Our dealer is booked out till October for repairs.

Thanks,

Bob

Yes it can be a DIY job with one good helper. My son and I did our 2012 Montana fabric replacement using You Tube video. Be SURE to follow the instructions TO THE LETTER especially the SAFETY instructions!

The fabric replacement can be easy without removal of the awning role up tube.
Yes I know that sounds impossible but it isn’t. My repair shop does it all the time. Extend the awning take it loose at the camper drill a hole in the tube end in the 1/4 inch wide grove large enough to slide the fabric out. Take the fabric out slide the new fabric in reconnect it on the camper, done.

Thanks for that info Lynnwood as I was thinking of drilling out an access slot since my awning will be taken out once we are back in port charlotte fl.

I was not planning on replacing the awning fabric as it is fine. Can I just repair where it is becoming detached?

I have the same or similar problem. The last 4 or 5 inches of mine has slipped out of the rail attached to the camper. It appears that the fabric is wrapped around a small diameter rod which " slides through the tube. No amount to tugging seems to allow any movement. Maybe I'm just not pulling hard enough, but yanking on something while standing on a ladder seems like a recipe for disaster!
