Norcold Not Working Electric or Gas
Shut our rig down (2017 3820FK) for a week recently and now the fridge (Norcold) will not cool on LP or Electric. Blowers are working, lights are on, flame comes on when we try LP but still no cooling. Left it on overnight on electric still not cooling. We have no error codes displayed. Notice a control panel under the outside cover, what is the red LED? Tried to do some searching, no help. Hope there is an idea out there, headed out today to help with some parental health issues. Thanks, Joe

One more question, how critical is it that our rig be level for the refrigerator to work?

Not familiar with the Norcold, but the red button may be a reset for a temp sensing unit that shuts down. It is important to have the rig level, or else unlevel operation will cause a slow death for the cooling unit.

Although I usually have an error code when the temp sensor trips it can be reset. Run a magnet across the surface of the box and it may take several tries but you should hear a click and red light will go off. This condition has happened to me twice following heavy rain.

What Hawkpat said. We always carry a strong magnet for just that reason, even though we've never had the issue.

If you’ve been operating the fridge off level, that is why the device had the red light on. It only operates when the boiler temperature exceeds a critical temperature that could cause the fridge to catch fire, and that is what can happen from off level operation. We lost our original cooling unit several years ago due to crystals in fluid that plugged up the plumbing. The replacement unit failed 5 months later due to a crack in the plumbing allowing the fluid to leak. We had the yellow stuff leaking along with the ammonia, and the ammonia is what catches fire when a leak happens. Be very careful before you reset anything to start the fridge again before checking the unit for damage.

Update, we were "only" on our front jacks. Rig was sitting pretty catywhampus on son's property in Dothan, Al. Once we hooked up and got down the road a bit, all was well. Leveling, or nearly level, is a must for the frig to work. Another lesson learned. Thanks for the inputs, Joe.
