Stuck drawers

Hello all, just a week in our new Montana, and have an issue that I fear is going to be too common. While picking up at dealer, I noticed that a kitchen drawer would not close, nor was the auto-close feature working. The dealer fixed (while I was in office) in less than 10 minutes, great.

Today, opened bedroom dresser drawers (never used) and same thing: 2 of them won’t close. I tried to remove the drawers to see if I could find issue, even removed the 2 screws that seemed to attach the metal glides, but could not get drawers out, and can’t see any issue. The BIG issue is we can’t close bedroom slide as bed will crush the drawers.

Anyone know how to fix or how to remove drawers so we can close slide? Pic attached (I hope).

Thanks

Don't know if they have changed the mounting rails since my unit, but here goes. I think there is a spot on the side of the rails that you can push in (with some difficulty) and continue to pull them out all the way.
Something to try.

There are 2 tiny rubber wands inside the metal glides that I assumed released the drawers, but tired multiple times and nothing. Getting drawers out would let me close slide, but what is causing the problem to begin with, and how do I fix?

On the metal slides, close to the drawer face, are two black metal levers, (rubber wands)? one on each side. Push down one side and lift up the other and pull the drawer out. Can’t remember which side is which, I think maybe push down on the right one and push up on the left? But you’ll figure it out, it becomes obvious once you try it.

Thanks, would not have thought I had to push 1 down and 1 up, so never tried that. My experience with office drawers is always in the same direction. I will see if that works. I assume I also have to still remove the 2 tiny screws at front of drawers since they go through the metal glides? Assuming drawers out, what is cause of problem closing, and what is fix? I assume some issue with the auto-close mechanism?

After you get the drawer out, take some measurements and try to determine if the rails in the cabinet are closely aligning with the rails on the drawer. The rails in the cabinet are fastened at the rear to vertical stiles that may warp or bend or shift, especially in the middle drawer area and the catch on the drawer rail may not be close enough to the toggle pin on the cabinet rail and they are not mating up when closing. The cabinet rails may need shimming a bit. I had one drawer that I had to do that to after about 2 months use and a few thousand miles of shaking and bouncing.
Shouldn’t have to remove any screws to get the drawers out. Yes, the catch on the drawer rail has to engage the toggle pin of the soft closer mechanism and that releases a little hydraulic/ spring loaded cylinder that closes the drawer the last couple of inches.

I just sent photos to my dealer on this same issue. The drawers do come out by pushing the plastic levers one up and one down (can't remember which is up /down). Don't press up / down on the tips - move your fingers as far as possible to toward the back of the drawer and then press hard up / down.

Note in the bottom photo the gray plastic "soft close" mechanism is broken with pieces sticking out. This is probably the same issue you have. The broken piece keeps the drawer from closing. The entire plastic piece moves out about 3 inches when you open the drawer. Closing the drawer trips the silver piece of metal in the middle of the gray plastic which latches on the back of the drawer slide and pulls the drawer in to the closed position. If the drawer isn't aligned properly the silver piece won't move and the drawer sticks out and won't close.

I have 2 drawers that are broken. I sent the pics and a video to my dealer this morning and will follow-up with a phone call tomorrow. For $100k I expect them to fix this, but if they give me the hardware, I'll do the labor and not have it sit at the dealer for 4 weeks waiting on tech availability!!

My 9 year old has all metal slide mechanisms, I think. Another case of going cheap on newer models.

I have had same problem a couple of times. Removing the drawer is as described in previous posts. Here is a link to YouTube video on how to fix soft close feature.

My wife found 5 drawers hard to open and close during pdi. She said fix it. Ended up with new slides on all 5.
