Removing Interior Light Covers

In our 2013 Montana our interior lights are covered with round, flush mounted plastic covers. I'm trying to remove them and they are very tight and don't seem to turn. It almost seems like you could pull them off but they give a lot of resistance and I'm afraid that I'm going to crack them if I pull too hard. Does anyone have experience removing these and placing them back on?

Mine was built right before the change so I am no help other than to say "can you pull down on the fixture which would allow for gripping of the fixture while trying to rotate the cover off?

They are hard to do . You have to push up and turn at the same time. Some are mounted too deep and that is why you have to push up. Once you get it off there are some little tabs you can bend down and it will make it easier the next time. If you check around you should find one that is easy. Then you will be able to see how they work.

Like Mudchief said, find the one that is loose and look at how it works.

My 2014 3725RL was the same way. I probably had two or three that would twist off and all the others were installed too tight. One was not working and after waiting several months and two warranty visits with my dealer (we were full time then) I have up and started hounding Keystone to just send me a new replacement. At about the 10 month mark I finally received the new LED fixture. When I changed it out I discovered that it was wired wrong from the factory and worked fine. So if you are taking one off because it isn't working you may not need a new fixture.

Does this apply to the touch on/off fixtures?

Thanks for reponse. I tried just twisting off but it was too tight to the ceiling. Used a flat screwdriver to slip between fixture & ceiling and was then able to twist off.

Replacement bedroom light covers?

Does anyone know if you can get different colored ones of these?

They are so bright we can't really use them to read in bed, so wonder if there are some that are tinted or otherwise limit the light some so that they are usefull.

These are the two little ones over the headboard of the bed, as discussed above.

Thanks if you do.

I installed a dimmer switch on the bedroom lights as they are really bright when lying in the bed. Otherwise, you could put a colored foil inside the cover to dim it a bit and add color as well. Just cut to fit.

I can’t get any off

Does the base screw into the ceiling? Some have a set of clips that hold it on. I can’t get ANY off to look at how the lens holds on.

The round base has screws that hold it to the ceiling. The base has tabs around the edge that the lens cover slip onto then turn about a quarter turn to engage (maybe less). I have one of the old style rubber strap pipe wrenches that came in a tool set I got years ago and never used until now. I wrapped it around one of the lenses to get grip to turn counter clockwise, then pushed up on the lens while turning. Some are really tough to get off the base. If you have one of the rubber pads to assist with opening jars, that might help too. Just push up really hard and turn CCW.

IIRC, they were green/white. The switch had the green and all white wires were tied together as ground.

Colored foil should be available at most craft stores. Maybe even WalMart.
