Corroded Bathroom sink stopper

I bought a used 2013 Montana high country fifth wheel and it has a glass sink with a copper stopper. The copper is corroded and I can’t get it to open. I have tried lime away and it did help but it still won’t open. Is there a lever underneath somewhere to pop it up?

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think this sink is an original sink to your rig. I have a 2012 Montana, and the sinks in it are just the white molded in sinks to the Corian countertops. Sounds like you might have to do some creative plumbing repair to get this problem corrected.

If lime away helped, you might try distilled white vinegar. It will take some time, several hours.

Yes, Bob, that glass bowl sink with high faucet is original on the 2013 and early 2014 HC.



While we haven't had a problem yet, suspect that you will need to get physical. The stopper rotates pretty hard in the drain tube on ours and always has. Someone has possibly jammed yours down pretty hard, causing the O-ring to 'lock' against the drain pipe. Instead of a caustic, try some silicone spray and douse that stopper well and let it set for a few minutes. Then, using a piece of wood dowel rod, probably 1/2" diameter by about 12" long and a small hammer, tap the stopper lightly on one side. Ours is positioned with the pivot points front to back, yours - dunno. Just use care.


If the above fails, you might have to pull the entire drain tube, with the fastening nut under the countertop, and get even more physical - but wouldn't get that strong with it while inside that glass sink.

i have 2014 with a glass sink. stopper in mine rotates, not up and down. has an o ring around stopper to stop water when rotated flat
