Leak

Last night, at 2am, the boss was awakened to dripping from the ceiling and edge of the bedroom slideout. In total it seems that it was just a few ounces and although the driving rain here at Camp Pendelton has continued it has stopped. We are parked so that the driving rain is from the rear. Don't have a clue how to deal with this.

It’s possible you have a problem with the rubber seals that are suppose to keep weather from getting in around the slide. They can deteriorate over time and can be replaced.

Another common spot for water entry is the rubber boot over the coax on your television antennae. Generally the boot can just be reattached with a dab of silicone caulk to hold it in place.

Thanks for the help. Went up on roof and found 3 possible problems; 1. On last trip a tree branch found that area of the roof and punctured a few holes in the rubber, 2. As suggested the antenna cable was no longer sealed property, and 3. There were open areas on the caulking around several thru roof items. Some tape for #1 and the suggested caulking for 2 & 3 made all good. Again, thanks.

Always a good idea to do periodic checks of the roof and all caulking.

If you know for a fact that water entered the roof through tares in the EPDM, I would be VERY concerned that a lot of moisture is still present and trapped within the attic space. This could continue to cause issues with mold, mildew, and wood rot within the roof and walls. Not sure what I would do in that case, but I would at least try to open up anything possible into that area and blow air/ heat into the attic in an attempt to dry it out.
