Unequal step hieght
The exterior steps on our 2017-305rl are not the same rise between the steps. The first 3 steps are 7" to 7 1/2". The last step (the 4th) is 10 1/2". The service department tells me that's the way they all are, but they could move it for me for $300. It's a very uncomfortable distance, not to mention, in my opinion, dangerous. They should be equal. There's another set of mounting holes approx. 3" above the steps. Seems to me that's where they should have been mounted. There's a blue accent light in the hole that I can see. Did someone mount the light in the wrong place, so they just took the easy way out?
Anyone else have this issue and how did you fix it?
Thanks

My first thought is how did you not notice this before buying? Were all the others on the lot the same? This really sounds like the factory messed up, the dealer didn't their job during pdi, and now can't be bothered to correct it. I would contact customer relations at keystone and let them have a dealer do the job.

There is at least one other recent thread here describing that very thing - one a Montana and the other our HC. The fix is to pull them out measure the individual boxes and rebuild to closer to equal height, Maybe you can convince the dealer to fix it but if you have to shell out the bucks, it will be expensive, at least the $300 quoted (or more) as it is time consuming.
No clue about the accent light

on our steps the first out the door is bigger than the rest. I have gotten used to it. $300 to fix it? Wow! I am assuming you have an HC. For $200 more install MORryde Step over Steps and a storage box. If you DIY

When you fold the steps up is there 3" of clearance above them? If there is and the holes are pre drilled than it couldn't be that hard to do it yourself. If there is not 3" of clearance above the steps than they are probably mounted right.

I noticed the top step difference on a couple of models before we purchased the HC 330RL....here is the deal...the top step is 2 inches longer than the rest of the steps... it was uncomfortable stepping down out of the coach, that first step was big and the lower step was almost ground level. There are adjustment holes in the mount to raise the whole step assembly up 2". Seems a no brainier...I borrower a floor jack, unbolted the steps, started to lift them to re-bolt to the higher position, BUT the solid bar that follows the curved top slot in the steps assembly wouldnt allow the adjustment....The mounting bracket that is welded to the frame and bolted to the floor is not correct for the "4 step" assembly. I ended up unfolding the steps, bolting to the correct height, and cutting out the slot so the steps could fold/store correctly. It was a 5-6 hr job...not fun...but the steps are perfect now. Bad Keystone.

Whole time I am reading about your ordeal I was thinking Moyride steps.......
All that work and you still have the junk OEM steps.

We're coming from a 2011 Outback TT with 3 step, steel steps, which really flexed a lot...These steps on the new HC 330 are pretty solid and we're happy with them (now). We weren't sold on folding the MOR ryde steps with spiders and dirt to the inside of the camper. Our dealer offered them for 300$

Since your unit is a 2017 it should be under warranty yet. Give Keystone Customer Service a call and let then know about your concern and get a file started on your problem. They can advice you on what to do or who can do it for you.

Thanks for all the info everyone.
Wher2nxt...Did you have the blue step light in the mounting holes? If so what was your solution?

No lights on our steps from factory but I plan to cure that.
Just FYI, I went to tech school for industrial electronics and run a stage lighting company as a hobby (also mobile disco). LED lighting has opened up a whole lot of new options in lighting!

Someone thought it would be "OK" to mount the light in one of the holes that I need to raise the steps!
Dang
Gonna be fun to access the junction. I'll check in the morning to see if it's in the basement storage panel.

Hello all, I simply loosened and removed bolts on one side of steps. Used a floor jack and a board to raise one side into place then repeated same on other side. Took me about 20 minutes. More comfortable now especially when exiting rv

Step height
You were lucky! I wonder why they didn't just mount yours in the correct holes to begin with. Assembly line easy...keep doin' what they're use to.
Nice looking rig! Our first trip is this weekend.
