New sound
I have a new sound coming from the front near the leveling jacks. It sounds like something is cycling. This is going to sound bad but there is a distinct click followed by a "clunk" noise. It almost sounds like something is trying to come on and then goes right off.

First off, welcome to the forums and glad you are asking your questions. This is the place for answers, to be sure.
Before anyone can answer, or even attempt to answer, your question it would be well if you posted which year and model your Montana is. And also, since you are questioning the leveling jacks, are your jacks hydraulic or electric.
There's a great school of knowledge on these forums, but more information is needed first.

Most likely need to add anti-stiction fluid to your hydraulic reservoir.

In addition to your model and year.
Is it often and repetitive? Is it random and infrequent? Are you trying to do something at the time of the noise? Time between the click and clunk, a second, several seconds?

It happens when connected to shore power. It’s repetitive. Just a few seconds between what sound like something is trying to engage and then a mechanical clunk with in 3 or 4 seconds and then repeats.

Could also be a noisy transfer switch if its tied to plugging into shore power.

Checked. Just replaced the ATS. The noise is coming from the other side of the cargo bay near the inverter which I just replaced a week and a half ago. It’s a puzzler i’m telling you.

There are a couple of self resetting circuit breakers on that side in the battery compartment. Could the sound be coming from them?

As Robert said, it could be one of the auto reset circuit breakers, especially if it is a soft "click/clunk" vs a loud "CLICK/CLUNK". Those things are nothing more than a cheap piece of bi-metal with a contact on the end. It heats up and the metal bends and opens the contact. Then cools and the metal bends the other way closing that contact. The closing would be the clunk as the metal contacts hit together. The more opening and closing, the more the contacts burn, and the more often it trips.

Did you ever figure out where the "click/clunk" was coming from? Curious minds need to know.

Actually found it today. It was a resettable breaker down behind the batteries. 50A breaker that had gone bad. It kept tripping and trying to reset.

Thanks for the update. Good to know a problem solved.
That’s why I have always said that an auto reset breaker shouldn’t be used for a continuously energized circuit.

If the CB in question is the one for the hydraulic pump, you should probably go ahead and upgrade to the 80 amp. I replaced mine shortly after purchase on our 2019 3791RD and used a manual reset breaker.
