Your restaurant recommendations? - Mexican

Wherever we go, we ask locals to recommend their favorite local Mexican restaurant. It dawned on us, why not ask MOC'ers

for their recommendations? We'll then, wherever we land, have a place to go look for recommendations.

Everyone please feel free to add new threads for other food types.

We'll start it off. Our favorite Mexican restaurant is Salty Iguana. We were introduced to this restaurant by Ozz (Jim and Sue). Salty Iguana is a KC Metro local chain with excellent restaurants in
Independence, MO, Prairie Village, KS, and Overland Park, KS.

We also like the Salty Iguana in Lawrence, KS, just west of the KC Metro area.

We did NOT care for the Salty Iguana in Olathe, KS (on the border with Lenexa, KS)

Los Comales, Rockport, TX. They just changed owners, but it is still better than any other we've ever tried. A close second is Vicki's, in San Benito, TX. I would prefer either of these over Garcia's or Arturo's in Progeso, Mexico.

Tres Hombres in Chico, CA if not there then also in Chico La Hacienta, or if not there and not in Chico then Casa Ramos.

If you are in my area for the Winter, Cabos in Texas City, followed by Taqueria Jallience and Viarta. But when you are in Texas, there are so, so many good Mexican restaurants. And they use real skirt steak for there meat, and not that pot roast noted out West way. I stopped eating at Mexican restaurant West of Texas because of the meat they use. If I want pot roast I'd go to a family restaurant.

When it Texas, a Taqueria is a typically good place to stop for a meal.
