Tire Disaster despite G614's
So, put G614's on several months ago - about 8000 trouble free miles until today. Pulled into Brookings, OR at the front end of a three week trip for lunch - saw rear drivers side G614 flat. Called Good Sam - G614 somehow picked up 1/2 of a scissor blade - ripped tread apart - not fixable.
Long story short found out Marathon spare is a 215 not a 235 so would not install the spare - claimed safety issue putting smaller tire with 3 other 235/R16s. To my dismay, I had never looked at the spare! To tire shop - no G614's available in area, would have to order - so now have $167 10 ply Cooper tire. Will pick up new G614 in Coos Bay, OR next week, and will move new tire to spare - if it lasts that long! So - will be about a $600 expense not covered by anything!
Plan to call my dealer about improperly sized spare - Label on trailer calls for 235/R16's for all five tires!
