What about those rubber pads on cable slides?

On cable-operated slide out rooms, there are rubber pads that are supposed to adhere to the openings where cables enter the unit from the outside. Ever since I have owned my MHC (2018), several of the rubber pads have been “loose,” hanging from the cable. And several have become mangled.

In the Keystone RV Forum, there is quite an extensive post about one owner’s approach to solving the problem. I’m not as handy as he apparently is. Have any of you come up with solutions to keep the pads in place and in good condition?

I’ve borrowed a couple photos from that post. I hope referring to another forum and borrowing photos are not rule violations! Please let me know, if so, and I will modify the post.

My previous RV was a 2017 Keystone Laredo 33RL with cable slides. I was following several threads on the Keystone Forum with solutions to try to improve the rubber grommet situation. Unfortunately we traded it in before I attempted the fix.

I've been just pushing them back into place for 5 years. Funny because I usually fix everything pronto. I suppose I would clean them and silicone them together.

Silicone them on...... easy peasy Make sure you let the silicone set for 24hr before moving the slides. 5yrs and they didn't move again after using silicone.
