Nice. I saw a Montana with something like that at Tybee Island earlier this year. Even though I use tie down straps, I was bringing in the awning on windy days and the rig with the poles like yours was good to go. Do the poles attach to the roller or does the roller just set in a cradle on top of the pole?

I just did a search for this photo to give you an idea of what the old-school awnings looked like. Look at the strut/brace that the red arrow points to…then I would attach a tie down/bungee cord/ rope (or whatever I was using at the time) to the awning roller then tie it to a stake in the ground. The strut is firmly attached to the trailer frame, or you can unhook it and stake it vertically to the ground. Even these have limitations on wind resistance but they could take a steady 15 mph wind/strong breeze.
