The only long term success we have had is using what used to be called "ant sugar" It is available at Home Depot in a small bottle by Ortho. The main ingredient should be Borax. The ants carry the borax back to their nest and it kills the colony. We use this when the rig is in storage as well as when we have it at the house for cleaning, etc. Application is simple, either dip a Q-tip in the mixture and lay it where the ants are seen or the box comes with small tear off cardboard squares to put the mixture on. Hope this helps.

Charlie - we use Ortho Home Defense around our house and our fiver. We've never had an ant in any of our campers and swear by this product.

Randye corrected me, the product I was referring to is made by Terro and not Ortho. The critical ingredient is still Borax however. There are two kinds of Terro at Home Depot, one is small packets (that we don't like) and the other is a small bottle of the product. The packaging is orange and is easily seen on the shelf.
