3820 FK kitchen slide

Dropped off the 2016 3820FK for the annual warranty Inspection. I was concerned with the kitchen slide rubbing on the floor by the table. The dealer called me and said the the frame of the slide is broken and needs to be repaired. They thought that it was a defect in workmanship and should be covered by Keystone under warranty maybe. Has anyone had this problem. The dealer said they have seen a few. They said if not covered under warranty it's going to be about 10,000 dollars to repair.

Well, get out your checkbook cause we know who will be paying for that. Hoping you win out with this issue. Good luck.

Maybe attend Rally and get some help from Factory? Worth a shot. Good PR for Keystone.

Well I Talked to Keystone yesterday and they told me sorry it's out of warranty and they feel that it is not a defect in workmanship. I'm very disappointed in Keystone.

Sorry to hear this. Not sure how a slide frame would just break when all it does is glide back and forth. Must have been a bad weld? Maybe retry and escalate up the chain of command and try to hold your temper(do as I say, not as I do) while pitching your case and with the dealers opinion to back you ...who knows. Go to Rally but continue a conversation between now and then to keep your case open. Good Luck from Round Rock.

Since a few of us on this forum have the same year and model, just curious if your travels over three years involved a lot of miles/usage, rough roads or anything that might contribute to a weld separation? Ours is not used for full time, however we make frequent short trips and will listen for signs when putting out the front slide.

Did you actually see the frame damage? How did they determine? Been doing this a lot of years, never ever a slide frame issue. I would want them to show me the damage.

Got the estimate to repair the broken frame and is not the slide room frame as was first thought it's the frame near the slide room. the estimate is only 4000.00 if they can save the fiberglass when they peel it back to access the frame. I'm worried that it will look bad where they repair it.

Is there any way your insurance would cover this? Just changed my ins. company and ask specifically if broken frame could be covered if due to road conditions and after long debate she read coverage and kinda more or less agreed it would be covered. Could just be another desperate sales person looking for new policy, but I do have S&B and 2 vehicles with them for about 30+ yrs. Also, I had a friend had broken frame up in nose area to break while driving and after a lot of negotiations between him and repair center in California and his insurance company and $11,000 later insurance paid!!! Sooo...check it out. Good luck. Oh, and BTW, insurance will almost always say NO first so just expect that and continue to fight.

If you mention " Manufacturing defect" it is very likely the insurance company or extended warranty company will not cover anything. They will tell you it is the manufacturer's responsibility.

We got a call from Keystone about the broken frame a few days ago. The rep. said after review of our case the said they would repair the broken frame at no cost to us. I would like to thank the person from Keystone that monitors this forum for helping us with this problem and Keystone for fixing this even when they didn't have to sense it is out of warranty.
