Battery box expansion
Well, I was pondering my choice of 4 Golf Cart batteries, I'm thinking if 4 are good, well, maybe 6 would be better.
So, I expanded the battery box. Still have to line it with sheet rubber, but it is all roughed in.
I cut the end out of the original box, it will show in the slide-show.
I am no carpenter....(Can't spell either)

well you being a Air conditioning meck why not take some burlap sacks and paint it with some air ball then it will never leak. I seen a fishing boat that did the deck with it a person could not hurt it.

If you put many more mods on that 3400, you will need an MDT to pull it!

I know Charlie, I try to quit, I just can't help myself..
Actually, the 5 years we spent on the road let me know which direction we want to go. Sue and I want to do more of the 'Off grid' camping. Most all of what I am doing now, is a direct result of preparing for that.
Do you do any of that in your MH?

Ozz,
Six is better. I lined the walls top and bottom with shower pan liner. At first I tried to fit in the box, but wasn't happy with the way it worked out, so I took the box a part and applied the shower pan liner all the pieces so it was flat, and then applied silicone to the joints and screwed it back together.

Ozz you being a HVAC guy do you have a line on some sheet metal. Sheet metal lined with rubber would be very light and something you know about and should be happy with?

Don't like to have a conductor with my battery power source and cables. Also, I had plenty of plywood around.
Besides, you just mentioned sheet metal and I started bleeding...
Bring 6 guys in a tent, they will have 6 different ways of doing something. This is my way.

Where did you get the battery posts? I found some at Blue Seas but they cost way more than I want to spend, here's my battery box
your posts would make for a cleaner install, I found some posts at a marine supply shop but they want more than I want to spend.

Yes, I first figured how to organize them, then built the box to fit. There length is 2 inches longer than the batteries so there is room for exit air to go out the bottom.

Martin,
Nice looking battery box.
Originally I put Stainless Steel, and as everyone here said it was a bad idea, and they were right. SS gets hot under load. They recommend Silicon Bronze or Bronze bolts which is what I replace them with.
Here is where I got the bolts, nuts, and washers:
http://www.boltdepot.com/product.asp...s=7&cm=5&cd=57
These bolts handle continuous 300 Amps without heating up.

Haven't as yet, but are certainly capable...8kw Onan quiet diesel gen, 2000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter/charger, four absorbed glass mat 6v batteries, Aqua Hot (no water heater or furnace), heat pump on rear AC, and probably something else I haven't found yet.

Ozz,
I would love a list of places you go Off Grid camping. When we lived in California, that was all we did, camp in BLM land or National Forest. When we move to Georgia in 1986, we were disappointed that all the public lands were chain off.
