We have had the G614's on three different 5th wheels dating back to 2005. We never had a issue of any type with the G614's. The problems seem to have been in the 2001 to 2004 time frame. We now have Goodyear G114's and 17.5" tires and they seem to be very good, they run very cool and the side wall pressure is 125 lbs. I do believe that the Montana's should have at the least the G rated tires. I have seen what happens with the E-rated tires and its not good. The nearest competition to the Montana's is using G-rated tires. This is not just my opinion its thru experience and many thousands of miles. But I will tell you I'm no tire expert. But I have had no tire failures on a 5th wheel. GBY....

I'm with you on the "G" rated tires. Actual weight of our trailer is between 2,725 and 2,900 pounds on each axle hub. Goodyear makes 3 tires in 235/80/16 (the size tires that our trailer came with). Two of them are truck tires with a 3,000 rating @ 65psi and one is a trailer tire with a 3,420 rating @ 80psi but the trailer tire is the infamous "Marathon" which may or may not have been made in China. If you change the tire size to 235/85/16, you can find truck tires with a rating of 3,040 to 3,080 @80 psi, which would be marginally OK..... but what happens if you have a failure? Is the tire manufacturer going to deny the claim because the tire is on a trailer instead of a truck?
Those "G" rated tires keep looking better and better!

If you are on a budget, BFG Comerical T/A is a great buy. If you want the best, Michelin Rib, and forget about them. FYI, BFG is part of the Michelin family along with Uniroyal. Commercial T/A is made in Michelin plant.
Comforting to know that Keystone is still pumping out BIG Sky with Carlisle tires. Thanks alot (NOT)

Anyone near San Atonio buy the Goodyear 614's. I am looking for a good price. Discount Tire in Kerrville wants $373 each. They are crazy, don't they know we're in the middle of a recession??????

I don't know if the Firestone Transforce HT is available in G rated, but we had them on our 3400 and they were really nice. I saw an instant pickup of about 1 mpg over the Mission tires that came with it. The only problem I had with them is the 15 year old that kept slashing the tires, but he's in prison now.

Phil, I will get on the phone tomorrow morning and see if I can locate a "reputable" dealer close to you that won't charge you an arm and a leg.
rames14, the Firestone Transforce H/T is not available in a G load range, but your right, it is a very good tire.

lonnie i need to replace my tires. witch tires do you recomend. i have the 2955 rl montana. mine came with tacoma tires 235-85-16. two of mine have tread seperation. any help will be appreciated.

These are my suggestions for LT235/85R16 load range E in order of prefference.
1. Michelin XPS RIB
2. BRIDGESTONE DURAVIS R500 COMMERCIAL LT

I just put #2 on my Montana last week. $182 mounted and balanced.
That $290 is high in my part of the country for those GY G614s...I got a quote of just under $245 mounted and balanced.

I agree, it's high for me too but it's the best I could get from them. When Phil puts his "Let's Make A Deal" hat on and goes to visit them, he may get a better price, or something extra thrown in. Being located where they are though, I don't know how much they will haggle.
My normal selling price for that tire is $270.00 mounted and balanced but I have been known to give some pretty good discounts to friends and family, including my MOC family.
