I had the plug in the bed in the truck we started fulltiming with. It's a good solution. But I didn't bother installing one in subsequent trucks. I use a piece of foam pipe insulation to keep the cord from rubbing the paint on the truck. It doesn't really seem to be necessary, though, as the tailgate top cover is where it rubs and that has protection on it anyhow.
I personally think this comes down purely to personal preference.

I use the rear hookup that come in the p/u. I do it a little different however. I run the courd through the lever that opens my louvered tailgate. Works like a charm, doesn't rub and doesn't hang down.

I have a regular tailgate and I honestly don't think my cord is long enought to reach the rear connector and stay there in a turn.

Brad, yours may be shorter than mine. But even with my long bed and stock tail gate, my cord has plenty of length for turns. And since it is attached to the pin box near the pivot point, it does not move much during turns.

I don't have the connectors in the bed neither - it's on my list of things to do. Until then, it goes OEM connector. I believe it's more a matter of preference or convience. I haven't had a problem with the connection or rubbing the tailgate and have enough cable to handle the turns with out issue.

My pickup came with the small plug in the bed but not the large plug. It doesn't bother me to throw the cord over the tail gate but man would it be easier if I had the plug right by the hitch.

We use the in=bed also, and if you have a GM Truck its possible you have the wire ran already it will be located under the Truck on the frame rail drivers side. I order the extra Camper wiring just for that purpose. I think it cost $35.00 extra but its sure saves a lot of time. And you don't have to splice into your OEM wiring. Since we use our Truck for different trailers we have to have both in-bed and on the bumper also. GBY....

This is my choice as well. I think it just looks "better", and might be less stress on the cord.
