Another screw up this trip

Well this trip has been a series of what can I break next. First it was the stove cover, where I left the burner on low, the plastic gears in the awning motor stripped, and now I turned too short and the trailer I was double towing got into the ladder and broke it.

So, other than Trekwood or a Montana dealer, I need to buy a ladder, options?

http://www.trekwood.com/products.php?product_id=309932

Thanks Jim

Etrailer.com has them as well as a number of other online sellers. Google Rv ladder.

Check here if you might be able to repair the ladder.

I messed up my ladder backing too close to my garage. I removed the ladder, cut out the bent sections and sleeved on slightly oversized tubes between the ladder rungs. As a double sure attachment I epoxied the connections at the rungs and thru bolted. My total cost was about 20 dollars versus a several hundred for a replacement. You may want to try a similar repair if possible.

Yea, I am 30 days from home in the RGV. Rig will be parked for 5 months. Will make this a winter project. Only one side is bent/broke so maybe I can figure out a $20 repair instead of $3-400.

Keep the ideas coming.

Thanks Jim

Funny you said you were double towing. It is not legal where we typically go...PA, VA, NC, TN...so we don't see much of that. We were in Michigan the week of Labor Day, however, and it's apparently legal there. Probably 30 to 50% of trailers were towing a boat....some of them not small.

And there's concern adding a hitch for a bike rack?!?

Come on over to KS, AR, TX, MO, NE, IA, OK ... like you estimated 30 - 50% double tow. We've rode this discussion horse clear down to the stirrups on the MOC and other forums as well. Some deplore the thought of it ... others just hook up and have fun.

You forgot Colorado. A good 50% either got a boat or a ATV behind.
