Keystone is getting color wiser (pics added)

In addition to the discussion thread regarding the colored outside receptacle covers, I noticed another change on the 2014 Big Sky that was unanticipated. Both of the swing out hand rails at the doors that came on the new rig are black. I believe the 2013 and previous years had the white handrails, which just like the outlet covers, stuck out with regards to the paint job. In addition to the black air conditioner covers, the attention to color detail seems to be something that has finally come to Keystone's attention. I can't comment on whether they changed the clips that hold the doors open since the 3850FL does not utilize them. Way to go Keystone!

I tracked down some pics to show the subtle changes. In addition they have changed the trim on the sides of the slides to eliminate the contrasting edges. Here is a pic of the previous model 3850 that shows the outlet cover and the handrail:

And a view of our new rig with the black handrail and dark outlet cover:

As mentioned, I also noticed the difference in the sides of the slides:

Previous model slide:

Our rig slides:

If you look at the edges, on our model, it can be seen that the white edges are now fully black. It may be picky, but I believe it at least shows that Keystone is cognizant of eliminating contrasts!

Your rig definitely looks cooler than the previous model. A nice additional benefit to your new rig.

You are right the outside receptacle is white as is the door holder. My question is why did those not get painted at the paint shop. They would have had to tape that off at the paint shop. It defies explanation. I will have to find black stuff. I do not understand.

Looks like both of our TV's need a paint job to match the Monty.

I am planning on adding black step bars, black bug deflector, black side window rain deflectors and black rims, but that is it. That is funny that you mentioned it, because I happened to mention in passing to DW that we should consider painting the truck black, but she was not too keen on that.

We changed the white outside receptacle and door hinge to black. During our build I did ask Keystone to do it in black with black ac covers but said they could not. I now speculate that the 2014 coming right behind our build had them on their specs. Could change but not sure it really matters at this point. The fantastic fan covers do come also in white or black if you add those.

I was considering the covers for the fantastic fans, but have one snafu due to the presence of four of the things in the rig. The bedroom fantastic fan appears to be close to the air conditioner cover to allow for a cover to be put over it. I did check the fans and they are the rain sensor type, which makes me wonder why I was considering the covers in the first place? I know the next question is why did we want four fantastic fans. We only specified two, but the dealer decided to check every available option on the build sheet. All of this was done after we negotiated the deal, so I was not going to complain.

The door hinge or door lock with the arm are at CW in two sizes. I got the black weather receptacle cover via the internet. It's a "Cooper" cover same as the white cover. I believe now you can get the black door rail at CW but not sure on that one.

I'm liking our 2012HC more everyday, all of the above are black. Trim is two different grays to match the area applied. Off course the front cap gel coat (gray), changed colors with the seasons, until I repainted it :-)

Bingo, you are right - it's not a huge thing, but it looks so much better with them matched.

When are you going to have the truck done to match? Maybe wait until Rustoleum goes on sale?

Or perhaps some black racing stripes formulated from gorilla tape?

We put the Fan tastic ultrabreeze vent covers (black) on our three Fantastic fans. We did it to run in the rain if necessary. We will not put a cover on the vent in the rear as Bingo stated it is too close to he AC. It is not a Fantastic fan.
