Ford 6 L Diesel engine light

On the last two trips I have had the "check engine" light come on and stay on. The first time the Ford dealer couldn't find anything but did find some sort of note on the Ford websiste so they downloaded the info in the trucks computer and then uploaded new info which made the light go out. So now the light is on again and this morning it will go back to the dealer. Has anyone experienced this? The truck is an '06 F-250. This only happens when I pull the Montana.

We bought a used 6.0 2006 350 with only 5800 miles on it. When we went down to La. for our retiree rally the check engine light came on. We went to a ford dealer down in Crowley La and they said it had carbon build up on the turbo. The blew it out and the light stayed off for w while but on the way back it came on again. The dealer here where we bought it ended up putting a new turbo on it. So far it hasn't come on again.

I have a 06 6.0l diesel ford F250 king ranch and the lite went on in mid fl in january so in to a ford dealer and these guys only work on trucks so they reset the computer but that only lasted 200 miles and on again, so when i got back to bonita springs i went in to a big ford dealer and the tec said that was a joke to change the computer, all they did was charge ford for 200.00 and i was on the way but here they replaced the turbo , i will say this the old turbo got better MPG than the new 1 as i droped almost 1/2 MPG since on pulling and 1 mpg on not pulling and they said i would get better but ford is not getting better than 10.5 or so pulling , not like the dodge which to me was junk but i think dodge turned there machine around on the trucks and that mite be my next 1 if this keeps up john

I have an 06 F250 PSD with 50,000 miles, mostly towing. No engine lights so far. Hope you get it fixed soon.

My F-250 is a 6.0 diesel and I printed out the responses and will take them with me when I go to the dealer on Thursday.
Thanks, Tom

In May 07, our 06 F350 diesel had the check engine light come on. I was on the road to Tulsa and took it into a Ford Dealer there. They replaced the turbo. The light has not come on since that fix. We continued on to Alaska and have driven the truck about 22,000 miles since the fix with NO problems. Hope this helps.

When I took our '07 F-250 diesel to the dealer yesterday I also took along a copy of the responses from this site refering to the turbo. I showed it to the service guy and he admitted that the turbos had been a problem but that the sensors are so sensitive that just about anything will set them off. The news is that they ordered parts for the turbo. We will see how this works out.
I want to thank all of you for your help with this.
