anyone have pics of Dometic 320 install?

I have the thetford but it mostly works okay. However am worried about the flooding issue some have. If I was sure I could install it myself, I would get the Dometic. I haven't taken the Thetford apart to look at the plumbing, so am not sure what is there now. I have read about 'shark bite' fittings but don't really know what they are.
Thanks for any pics and/or advice.

Go to a lowes and look at the whole line of shark bite parts and you should be able to figure out what is needed.

If you look on the PPL web site you will see a picture of the Dometic 310 and 320 series toilets. I realize this is not quite the same as in your coach but you can get the idea. If you can , get the model 320 as it is longated as residential styles. Also get the sprayer. There is probably no one on the web as cheap as PPL. There price is 198.98 with free shipping and no tax with the 320 with sprayer. This is the bone color. If you had to pay shipping then you might would want to buy one closer to home. They should have the dimentions on there web site. This is one of the improvements you want to make ignoring the old adage 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Thretford toilet breaking could be a nightmare. Good-Luck.

The dometic drops right in, water line may have to be swapped out because of length/location of attachment point. You can order a universal line with the dometic, or buy a replacement flex line from any hardware store. Very easy install.

If you have 10.5" from the bolts on the sides of the toilet to the back wall, you have enough room for a 320. I opted for the sprayer after reading reviews here and and glad I did.
Turn off all water and open a faucet and then flush the toilet to relieve water pressure and then empty the bowl. Put a large thick trash bag over in the shower or hallway to put the old toilet in. Unscrew the water line from the back of the toilet, and unloosen the floor bolts. May want to put a towel down under the water line to catch access water. Don't worry, it's clean water. Then pull up on the toilet and place into the trash bag and remove it.
*** This is what I did here. I took a pair of vise grip pliers and gently locked them on the water line coming through the floor at he floor level so the water line would not slip back through the floor. I then cut off the elbow and connector off the water line and firmly pushed on a Sharkbite 90* 1/2" pex brass elbow with the standard toilet water hose threads on the end of the elbow and then bought an 18-24" braided water supply line with the same ends on it at Home Depot. Sat the toilet in place making sure the supplied gasket was in place, tightened down the bolts and put the water supply line on the line from the camper and put a loop in it and screwed it onto the toilet. A quick snug with a pair of pliers(very little) and turned on the water and checked for leaks. The 90* sharkbite will leak if it wasn't pushed all the way into position, that's why I said it should be pushed FIRMLY onto the pex line. And you are done.
By the way, there are several "HOW TO" videos on YouTube on replacing RV toilets. You can do it.

Golfmedik, does the 90 degree fitting have push-connect on one end and a threaded (male or female?) on the other?
Oh, and some I found when searching have just 'barbed' connection and some have the outer sleeve? that slides over the hose.
Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions - I have saved them already!!

The elbow would have male threads on it. Same size as the make end on the toilet.

You could install a cut-off on the toilet also if you like. I took 1 hour to install mine with new lines and cut-off and that was considered slow. Be sure to alternate from one side to the other when snugging down the toilet. Golfmedic gave you a lot of good details on how to install. Good-Luck.

Golfmedic - how much pex line did you leave to attach the elbow to? Since the elbow is brass and heavy, if there is much line sticking up, it seems it would be kind of floppy.
And Texan or anyone else - what kind of shutoff do you use and where in the new stuff do you place it?
Thanks everyone

I used a plastic shutoff with the pex fittings and installed it just before it tied into the toilet. You can install your shutoff just as it comes up out of the floor or anywhere in between the floor and the toilet. Not all people install the cutoff but if you have problems with the toilet then it is nice to be able to just isolate the line and still leave the water on in the rv.
