Do their paws ever get cold?

This little chubby feller got "shot" by my wife this morning. Sitting in what's left of our mulberry tree after the ice storm here. If Max were still here, he would not have tolerated him long. She counted six around the hickory tree, they must have been hungry. I picked up 200# of corn to feed them, the turkeys and deer yesterday. They must like variety.

Your good folks to feed them, we always did. The entertainment value was worth it. Always did wonder why them and the birds didn't have their feet freeze and fall off, particularly the geese sleeping standing up on the ice.

I feed the deer about 200 pounds of corn a week and and the turkeys about 100 pounds of wheat. Here in southwest Va there was no mask this year. I feed the turkey's wheat because the deer find it hard to eat and the crows haven't found ti yet. When they do I will make a scare crow out of one of them. They learn quick.

We really got a kick out of how he tucked his front paws in. Like he was warming them. Dick, I think it's going to be a tough winter on the critters this year. The ice and rain we got crusted over to a depth of about 4 inches here, then 3 inches of snow, now it has melted for 2 days. Makes it tough to forage for food on the ground at least.
LOL.... maybe I should have posted this under Pet Palace!

We got a "squirrel wreath" that we fill with peanuts to keep the little devils out of the bird feeders. They have been quite entertaining to watch. One enterprising little guy figured out that if he sits in the center he doesn't have to go back and forth to eat.

People feed them at the Grand Canyon and really shouldn't. They get used to people and are way too aggressive. Nice to feed them at other places though

They eat holes in the top of the trash cans I keep corn in. I can understand that. They can smell the corn. But do they know there is water in a hose. One dry summer they ate holes in my garden hose. How did they know there was water in the hose?
