LOL on the brother in law comment. It seems like manufacturing everywhere is suffering from whatever-is-the-cheapest...

Room for discussion here, People. Oil is oil, and the weights are a bit different, I would say that if you want a cheap oil just go with a ten weight or lighter oil. Name brand not important. your choice. BUT if you want a good Exspenive
oil use Brake fluid, that never seems to fail. It is even used in High speed cars. and it is seal friendly, A bit cheaper is the Hyd. Jack oil, will work also. Just don't use a heavy weight oil 20w or 30w is to thick.

I would not recommend brake fluid in the hydraulic system because it is hygroscopic and the hydraulic system sees nowhere close to the tempature levels of a brake system, therefore offering no benifit.

I'll echo that if you have that popping, you'll know exactly what's being described in these posts. For us, it happened a lot with bigger temperature swings (Mountain day heat to mountain evening/night cool down). It would cycle around the rig from jack to jack, front left (nearest the hydraulic tank) then down the two other left side jacks, around the back and up to the front right, jack by jack in sequence. It's a worrying thing when you first hear it, or was for us.

It's a common problem, and after a lot of searching I found an explanation that it was static being released. Spraying the jacks when out with a silicon spray every once in awhile worked well. And we carry some square plank pads to keep the jacks from having to extend too far or too unevenly. We don't get it since.
