Furnace won't light

So my dad is turning on his furnace and yes he has gas to the stove, the furnace will blow cold air for 30 - 60 seconds and will shut off. Outside at the furnace cover you dont hear any clicking. He has screens covering the tubes also. Any suggestions??

First thing to check would be the sail switch.

Hi there, you are describing a classic sign of a sail switch problem. This should be the ROUGH sequence to getting heat.. (and I am paraphrasing only the key parts for all you details people!!)

1. Thermostat sends "heat required" signal to furnace control board.
2. Control board starts the fan in order to "pre-clear" any combustible gasses.
3. Fan starts and produces enough "wind" for the sail switch to close.
3. Control board starts a ~15 seconds timer.
4. Once timer expires, igniter sends spark and propane valve opens. FIRE!
4a. Provided the burning chamber stays below 190 degrees, the high temp limit switch stays closed.
5. Fan blows and fire burns until "heat required" signal stops from thermostat.
6. Unit goes into cool-down (fan only) and then stops when cool.

What about the water heater? Light the water heater and if that works then shut that off and try the furnace again. There is a system in the gas lines that if the gas gets low then the furnace and water heater will stop working but the cook stove will keep working. When the water heater light comes on I know that I need to switch bottles. when the light in the water heater comes on. I open the new bottle then turn the valve to the new bottle then close the old bottle. If you have a automatic valve than you need to leave both bottles open.

Hope this gets you up and running.
