Yes we have had sometimes it does and don't. There are "one way" or "directional" check valves in the system that are to prevent this. The one that could be at fault, is in the motor or manifold. Recommended 2-3 years you need to change out old hydraulic fluid. The system has no filter in the system. Easy to do, just pump out old oil an put in new. With all slides IN, landing UP, an hooked up to truck. Call Lippert they will tell you who is most competent in the repair skill near you for this system. Aluminium gets hyd. oil dirty an this is why you need to change it out every now an then.

Thinking of two other things that can cause this, a leak in the line or leak internal in the system and the other would be air in the system. I also think the system self bleeds itself, I could be wrong but it is a closed system and I can't think why it wouldn't. Other words, work the landing gear up & down serval times hooked to truck and slide outs as well.

Our 6 point hydraulic system works perfectly on our 13 3402. Read the manual understand the limitations in terms of leveling. Know the specs front to back and side to side. The RV must be comparatively level before starting the auto level process. The system will not level under severe unlevel conditions.

Not for sure what the definition of "comparatively level" is, but I would say that it can be off quite a bit, and still auto level.

This was our campsite last week. We were about 6" side to side on unlevel, and didn't have any issues with autolevel at all...

We have a 2021 295RL with electric auto leveling system & got an error message about the LR jack and we needed to bring all of the jacks up. Did that and still had to manually level the unit - how do we reset it ?

With the 5er hitched and jacks up shut off. Then turn on and drop all legs 6-8". Retract all. Unhitch, make certain nose is higher than level, hit auto-level and all should be well.

You also need to make sure you have good 12v power. I always plug into shore power before doing auto level.

12 V is important. After a drive I've never had a low voltage problem and auto level before power is on. Nothing else, especially slides, until power is on or genny connected.

And I am just the opposite. I always unhook, Auto Level and extend the slides before the power is connected. Been doing it for 10 years that way on this rig with no issues. You just need to have an adequate battery configuration. One 12V isn't going to cut it.

Carl, I'd hate to get all setup and find out there was a power issue on the site.
Almost happened to us once. Now I try to remember to check power before disconnecting from the TV.

I found that if we are on a site that is very uneven, I will have to manually level the unit to get it close. Once it is close, I will hit auto level and it works great. I have also run into issues where I run out of stroke for the stabilizers. I typically try to level side to side before unhooking from my TV. I have seen these jacks level, but pick the wheels right off the ground!

I hear you but in 15 years it hasn't happened to us. We do a lot of repeat camping so I am comfortable with one of our familiar parks. I will admit that I have plugged in my portable EMS prior to unhooking one time as I was concerned. It is not that we are all setup before connecting power.

Our process is to put down the jacks and disconnect. Then while I drive the truck out and away, Management hits Auto Level and waits for the "beep". The she starts opening slides. By then I have the truck parked, drug out hoses, cords, etc. and start to connect power. This is when I will find a problem if there is one.

Understand I always unhook, even for an quick overnight. With the hydraulic leveling system it is too easy to do so. Unhooking, slides out, find problem, slides in, hook up and move only takes 10 min. max. if we ever encounter a power issue.

We all have a process for setup and packing up. I guess that is what I want the newer folks to realize. No right or wrong way, the important thing is to have a process you follow, it is less likely you will miss something. We have ours documented in a sleeve to keep it nicer. Many times we still get it out and refer to it, mainly because we are getting old and drugs for health make my brain foggy at times!

Purely out of curiosity, if you don't mind, what approximate cost is involved with retrofitting hydraulic leveling? Sounds very interesting.

Thanks,
