Displaced Northerners - what you are missing
Here is a quick photo taken on the way to work this morning. A normal hour and fifteen minute drive took me an hour longer. Enjoy the uncoolness in the Sunshine State, definitely beats snow, ice and sleet!

Used to say that Buffalo, NY has two seasons, winter and the 4th of July. Now I think that applies to everywhere north of Jacksonville, FL.

A friend that I taught with put it this way: In the north we have two seasons - winter and getting ready for winter.

Couldn't resist. Here is a pic when I arrived at the office this morning, followed by the current view out of my office window (the Suburban has been there since yesterday). We are at about 12" since 8 last evening and still falling. Locations nearby are at 18" and still falling. Thank goodness I love snow!!!!

The only white-covered-ground I have walked on in 2014 has been sand with salt water rolling over it, and with any luck I will never actually see snow in person again. But I do enjoy seeing all those blizzard type photos! Hang in there Bingo, I am sure things will warm up in another month or so.

We just got back from five weeks on the Gulf Coast. Judging by the license plates a great part of NY, MI, MN and Canada must be empty.

We're at Topsail State Park and I hate to rub it in, but it's beautiful here.

We have about 15" of white stuff and I found out this AM my snow blower will not start.
After shoveling out I ask the wife "why is it that now that we are both retired I am looking at my Montana with 15" of snow on top of it and not sitting by a beach in a warm sunny camp site". She something about building character.

I've had all the character building I need. Warm and almost too hot in Yuma.

I feel fortunate that they're only forecasting 3" of the white stuff here. Still have several inches on the ground. I'm so over it!! Beginning to wonder if spring will ever get here. Lately I find myself staring out the window at the Montana and daydreaming of fun times in various campgrounds....

I'm with you Dick, 70 today, and forecast 84 for Saturday and Sunday, golf, all weekend. Roswell, NM has the weather I can tolerate for a couple of more years.

OK, OK, OK, I really look forward to the day I can retire and sit in Yuma and drive by the fields in 70-80 degree weather watching the crops grow. Sheesh, do you really have to rub it in? Been there a lot doing work at YPG and miss those warm days. Also glad to be home with the DW celebrating Valentines day this year with my Sweetheart! Even rain in Seattle looks better than snow in the mid West!
Happy Valentines to all!!!!!

I miss it and we are planning to head back to Montana the end of Feb. and have already decided to stay home next winter.
I miss the snow plowing and want to do some hunting and ice fishing which I haven't done for 13 years.
Last year didn't count as we were called home early because of a death in the family.
and yes my wife is all for it, we just can't seem to get into the AZ scene this year.
I guess we are still normal
